But what disappointed me most was that, I distinctly remember the writers saying something about more development of the Kirk/Bones friendship in the second film....and we got zilch. I was looking forward to that.
Leave the epic bromance between Kirk/Spock in the old show. This is an alternate universe, develop Bones more and explore the difficulties of a human and an alien hybrid romance more, since we didn't get TOO much of that in the older series with Spock's parents (we got a bit in a few of the books, but seeing as they aren't canon and all....).

(Anonymous) 2014-11-09 01:37 am (UTC)(link)That was never ever going to happen, and I'm sorry but fans that really believed that it would were deluding themselves. I'm not sure what the writers said to lead fans to believe that (and I myself was surprised and disappointed at the lack of McCoy in this last movie), but I thought the first movie made it crystal clear that the main focus of the movies was always going to be the development of that "epic" friendship. That was the main reason for bringing old Spock in.
