Re: What is the most unusual meat you ate?

Wild boar. Um, lamb. Deer.

None of these were by choice, but out of politeness for two of them, and the third, the lamb, was unknowingly.

I'm a very vanilla meat eater - pig, cow, chicken. Give me something other than that and I'm like nope.

This is me too. We used to go to a restaurant that had bison and ostrich burgers as an option and I never had any desire to try them. I won't even eat lamb or duck.

Oh, same here. I attempted duck once but didn't get more than a bite in when I couldn't. I don't know if it's because I perceived it as too gamey or too fatty or both. Either way, all I thought was not chicken!.

I'll be any name you care to call me if it meant a plate of sweet, slow cooked baby backs. YUM.

Is lamb unusual where you are? I thought it was a pretty standard/vanilla meat.

I'm from the US, California specifically. It's not too unusual here but it's not what I was raised on, so it's unusual to me. :)

Huh. You learn something new every day!

I'm from the UK, and lamb's one of the basic meats over here. Of course there are also sheep everywhere.

And also a lot of people with suspiciously curly hair too.

It's all about what's available I guess. :) I live where it gets rural if you drive a bit and I've seen a sheep pasture here and there but really, it's all about cow here, cow and pig. I've eaten lamb maybe twice, and both times I mistook it for something else - the first time I thought it was undercooked turkey and the second, I thought it was badly cooked beef. Both times was when I traveled out of the area. I'm very provincial, I'm afraid.

Same, except add in turkey.
