Reminds me of this one fandom I was in where the kink meme needed an entire round... for every ship that wasn't the popular ship.

The show itself doesn't even have any gen, which is frustrating to say the least, because I think gen relationships would help us understand the characters better. I'm not saying they all have to share friendship bracelets, but something. Especially given they've apparently all killed someone together when they barely interact outside of Keating stuff thus far.

But maybe I just wish the show didn't barely pass the Bechdel Test. (It technically passes. Technically.)

BTW, is this series worth the watch?

If you can get past the fact that every single case of the week just happens to tie into what's happening in class/characters' external lives, and the fact that it falls into the "Always Murder" trope in a similar fashion to Ace Attorney, I would say go for it. The characters are really solid, and Annalise in particular is an awesome lead.

I enjoy it, but it's nothing special. The plots are pretty standard courtroom drama fare, and at this point the setup is heavily based around a flashback, which is getting old fast. But Viola Davis is terrific - the other actors are generally quite good too - and it's really diverse when it comes to race/sexuality. Basically, don't set your expectations too high and you'll have fun.

I'm enjoying it. And I'm seriously picky about crime shows since there are so goddamn many of them that have the same basic premise.

A canon, bi-racial gay couple? HOW DARE PEOPLE BE EXCITED ABOUT IT.

Seriously, this is like an unicorn, let people enjoy it and do your own thing if you want, but you don't get to "resent" the fandom for this, not when it is something so hard to find in media.

I haven't bothered to look for fic of this show (though I am enjoying it, and I do like this pairing despite thinking that Oliver would probably be better off with someone else) and I agree that variety is always good (even if I don't usually multiship), but I can understand why people are attracted to it. A lot of people don't have many (or any) canon gay ships...so it's probably a nice change.

I stopped caring about this dude after it became apparent that fucking guys to get (very convenient) answers was his only method. like I mean, once or twice I can appreciate, but how is he finding the right man to bang for this in almost every episode??

Oliver is so fucking bland.

I love that the ship seems to actually have some fans (canon biracial gay couple!!!) but OTOH I sort of agree, OP, if not for the same reasons as you. I kind of wish that certain kinds of shippers would, like... leave. You know, the type who wax poetic about their tragic Connor headcanons and write ballads on how Connor feels about their relationship, but don't care about Oliver at all. The type who want to rewrite Connor as a weepy bottom!slut and Oliver as a bespectacled dildo.

To be honest I agree with you. They are kind of bland for me. It's great we have a gay couple that's not just white dudes, but other than that fact they really have nothing going for them. Oliver is so bland right now and I really hope he kicks Conner to the curb for being a complete asshole. Conner is such a jerk, other than the fact that he's pretty and openly gay there's really nothing admirable about him (yet I suppose, he could still prove me wrong maybe). In every one of their scenes together I keep hoping for Oliver to get out of the relationship since Conner is a manipulative ass.

I love Connor, but I hate this ship and the fandom's obsession with it so much. There is literally no trope I hate more than 'character is not interested in relationships ... until they have sex with someone SEVERAL TIMES AND THEREFORE MUST DEVELOP FEELINGS FOR THEM!' Can't have people enjoy casual sex with emotional attachment, right? That'd be slutty.

I have no interest in reading fic for this show but it doesn't suprise me that's they're all about Connor. After all, he's a hot, gay, white guy.
