Stegosaurus! I don't care if they were probably dumb as a rock. They are still awesome. When the stegosaurus showed up in Walking With Dinosaurs Live, I about lost it. Hell, I have a stegosaurus Christmas ornament!

I wish I could find the bestiary I had, a long time ago, with the poem that began:

Stegosaurus, dino-dim,
was something like the Inner City:
he had three different brains in him,
too many chiefs on the steering committee.

And it went on to describe how the bewildered dinosaur had nothing left in life but to "sink straight down and turn to coal."

And before someone gets on my case, the book was published sometime in the 80s, so yes, I know that's very poor natural history.

(I guess it still counts as a prehistoric creature, but I recently learned that flying things don't qualify as dinosaurs, so Pterodactyl gets the boot and this blew my mind)

Well, actually a Pleiosaur, but definitely Liopleurodon. Blame Walking with Dinosaurs and the Oxford Natural History Museum.

Unicorns. It was a real shame God let them all drown in the Flood.

Not really, they just evolved into Narwals.

Not Wanted on the Voyage is a neato retelling of the flood, and there are magical creatures including unicorns that are taken aboard. It's also not a very nice book though, because it's post modern magical realism mix. But I recommend it anyways!

Ah great now I got that damn song stuck in my head.

I've always been fond of Iguanadon, though I've been getting (back*) on the raptor train since evidence has gotten stronger that they were feathered.

* Velociraptor has never been one of my favourites, but I was fond of Deinonychus (another Dromeasaurid) as a kid.

Archaeopteryx! Loved them as a kid because they had feathers! Imagine my delight as an adult when it turns out even more dinosaurs have feathers!

I kind of like Brontosaurus. Of the big scary ones, I'll go with Tyrannosaurus Rex, which has always been a really good name.

Predictable choices, I know. I don't know a lot of dinosaurs.

I have a morbid fascination with sea monsters, so plesiosaurs and other marine creatures are interesting. Tylosaurus, Kronosaurus and Liopleurodon are creepy-cool. Not a big fan of Megalodons, mostly because I think sharks are kind of bland.
