I wouldn't worry about this. Fat shaming's not really a thing guys have to deal with so much, so I don't think your personal preference on hottest Cenobite really counts as problematic.

They don't make as big a deal out of it but it happens.

If we're talking about fat shaming/phobia in a social justice type way, it definitely affects both genders. It's more obvious for women because sexism means that people feel more entitled to comment on a woman's body and link that to her worth, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt fat men when it happens to them.

You're one of those people who goes "what about the menz" when men get raped, aren't you?

(Anonymous) 2014-11-17 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
literally no one says that

they might say "what about the menz" when a topic on how rape affects women disproportionately gets derailed by one reply of, "hey I know a male rape victim, why are you ignoring them in this post about women!??!" because everything has to apply to men all the time

(Anonymous) 2014-11-17 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen feminists say worse. One person on tumblr said male rape in prison was social justice at work.

I think it might also because you see a lot more positive fat guy role models, even though sometimes it's still bogged down in the same old stereotypical bullshit. Just look at how many leading men in comedy films and sitcoms are fat guys. Even though they often play into the "lol fat ppl r lazy" stereotypes, these guys are generally quite successful and get the girl. Pre 2010's, I can't think of a single fat female character on TV given that kind of exposure since Roseanne.

I don't remember exactly, but how did "Veronica's Closet" do? Of course, Kirstie Alley wasn’t quite as large as Roseanne, though...

That show Mike & Molly?

(Anonymous) 2014-11-17 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Telling other people what their experience is: A+ Social Justice! Many Good Person Points! You're not at all a complete asshole!

(Anonymous) 2015-01-02 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
Does it even matter? CENOBITES ARE FICTIONAL.
