Does he identify as a Republican, though? I've only seen one quote on this, a long time ago, and it was talking about how you don't go from a $2K-a-night room on the Strip to prison and come out of it a liberal. Not that he was expressly Republican.

Well, considering that most of the basic Republican views are things I find morally repugnant, I do react when I find out someone is Republican. It does not necessarily mean that I won't ultimately decide that they are a mostly decent person I just disagree with, that is my usual initial reaction.

This would've been true in the early 90s, but unfortunately, it's not true now. The GOP has had its more moderate and reasonable members forced out, muzzled or marginalized in favor of wannabe Tea Partiers. It's now the party who opposes anything they think is related to Obama in any way, the party who is against gay marriage, universal healthcare and basic healthcare for women.

Does every single Republic fit that description? No. But if that's what you want to identify with, then you're part of the problem.

Yes, I do. Because the feminists who aren't "loud" and "crazy" make an effort to clarify their position as well the definition of "feminism", i.e. it's not a generic label for women who hope all men die in a fire.

In contrast, how many Republicans do you see standing up and saying, "I do NOT agree with my party's decision to deny basic civil rights to gay people" and "I do NOT agree with my party's decision to oppose affordable healthcare to every American" and "I do NOT agree with my party's decision to brutally undermine funding for women's health and deny women autonomy over their own bodies"?

That doesn't necessarily mean he's a bad person. I'm hardcore liberal but the person I respect most in the world votes Republican. Given his history, he has compelling reasons to honestly.
