I take it this means you object to the casting in some media adaptation, OP?

(Anonymous) 2014-11-22 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay kan anyone give me some context? Or the fandom?

(Anonymous) 2014-11-23 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Mte.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-22 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
So I don't know much about this guy's games, but people can change their appearance pretty easily. Hair and eye color are probably the simplest. So maybe it's a situation like that. If not, you can pretend.

The game is set in like, what, 1912? I'm pretty sure you couldn't change eye colours that easily.

Dude, was it that hard to give some context?

Also, on a slight tangent, didn't Ken Levine write for both Frasier and M*A*S*H?

Could have been worse.

You could have been presented with a blond-haired, brown-eyed man.

Ken Levine is a fucking hack who thinks himself to be the personification of Irrational Games, decided he was bored because Bioshock Infinite only sold 4 million copies, and a bunch of people lost their jobs because Levine had an ego fit.

System Shock 1 and Bioshock 2 are both better than the other games in their respective series and he had nothing to do with them. I’ve disliked this self-absorbed colossal motherfucker since before Bioshock 1 came out and Bioshock Infinite proved he believes his own hype. I hope everyone who got screwed over by Levine’s narcissism has since found jobs with someone who isn’t such an egomaniac.

I don't know what he's working on and I don't care, I just want him out of the industry.

Oh okay, so I think I was thinking about a different Ken Levine...huh. That's a pretty appropriate icon for this comment though :D

(Anonymous) 2014-11-22 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought this was going to be about Harry Potter or Doctor Who for a second.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-23 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Are we talking about Booker DeWitt and the twist involving him? I'm pretty lost honestly.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-23 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
If dethtoll has his way, we will be.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-23 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Oh fuck off. The dethtoll hate is getting so old.

Hair color and eye color can change.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-23 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
And I'm not talking about dye and contacts. Hair color can change due to exposure to the sun and due to aging. Eye color can also change as you age or due to disease (and maybe due to diet, though I don't think there's enough evidence to say definitively).

But does hair usually change from brown to black? And can eyes really change from green to blue?

da

(Anonymous) 2014-11-23 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
If the brown to black hair were swapped, that would be absolutely possible. I had jet black hair when I was younger and ended up with normal brown.

Not sure about the eye colors at all. I know it can happen with babies, but I assumed it was age-related.

ayrt

But does hair usually change from brown to black?
I don't believe it is usual, but I do believe it is possible.

And can eyes really change from green to blue?
Eye color is based on the number and color of pigment granules (Melanin) in our eyes. Blue eyes are the result of a small number of granules with minimal pigment. Green or hazel (light brown or yellowish brown) eyes are the result of a moderate number of granules with moderately colored pigment. It seems that with age, the amount of melanin in the iris can change, resulting in a change in the perceived color.

Given the hair in my family gets darker as we get older, yes.

Re: Hair color and eye color can change.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-23 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
It can, yes. I went through the entire gammut of hair colors before I reached adulthood, basically being born with red hair, having that fall out, growing in white blond that just got darker and darker as I aged. By the time I was in my mid-twenties, my hair was considered either really, really dark brown or black, depending on the person.

...and now it's going grey, which is great. XD

Re: Hair color and eye color can change.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-23 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well my hair has gone from blonde to brown, so I guess it could be possible.

Re: Hair color and eye color can change.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-23 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
My eye color is grey, but it looks greenish or blueish depending on the day, the light, what I'm wearing. It doesn't go from EMERALD GREEN to SKY BLUE or anything, and I'm not certain of the original context, but it could work.

Can someone explain this secret to me?
ariakas: (Default)

[personal profile] ariakas 2014-11-23 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Ookkkkaaaaay. That wouldn't have been my complaint, especially since both of those things change with age.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-23 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
There was a bewildering episode of CSI a number of years ago, which showed, in flashback, a young mobster named Micky Dunn. He was tall, black-haired, and had dark brown eyes.

In the present-day segments, Micky Dunn was played by ROGER DALTREY. Yes: short, blue-eyed Roger Daltrey. One of those casting decisions made no sense at all.

So I feel your annoyance, OP.
