Online You vs IRL You

(Anonymous) 2014-11-27 01:39 am (UTC)(link)i'm probably somewhat more abrasive online
Re: Online You vs IRL You
(Anonymous) 2014-11-27 01:44 am (UTC)(link)My internet friends would most likely be surprised if they met me in person yeah, as I get quite anxious when meeting people irl for the first time and I'm a million times more guarded about everything.

I think both groups of people might say I'm more rude on the other medium: I'm much more stand-offish in real life, and sometimes that gives the wrong impression, whereas online I can be, and usually am, much more vitriolic.

Internet allows me to open up more.
Re: Online You vs IRL You
I mean, I'm as introverted as they come, so I don't interact with people much offline. But when I do, no difference. I think it's because I first got online via local BBSes, and so I was regularly hanging out in person with everyone I knew online. Acting differently online and in person would have been pretty ridiculous there. Though one guy was really surprised because he thought I was a dude.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-27 03:59 am (UTC)(link)I remember the one fandom meet-up I went to, I told the group my screenname and I could swear to you, the look on almost everyone's face said, "Holy shit, she is tiny!" It was very amusing.

Hell, how I am irl depends on who I'm with.
