This, so much. I've seen a lot of clips from the show, and everyone's bullying of him makes me so uncomfortable that I haven't started watching the show, despite nearly everyone I know highly recommending it.

for what it's worth, this is LITERALLY the only bad thing I have to say about P&R. It doesn't fit at all with the spirit of the show and how ultimately optimistic and uplifting (weirdly?? to me anyway) it tends to be, it's like... not funny and not cool and really jarring in a series that is otherwise full of great character moments and actual! character! development! arcs! but no, ~jerry sucks~ is the status quo, and I can't figure out why. :|

Pretty much this. I think Parks and Rec is among the best comedic television in the past several years. Except for the Jerry thing.
