Advice - other ppl can ask to, change subject!

I need to up my video card for my computer. It is too laggy and I am pretty sure that is why. My RAM is fine and my connection should be fine.

My current video card is 6 years old. My sister has an identical one in her computer she does not use anymore. Should I add her card to my computer and double up on them or just buy a new card?

I....don't think video cards work that way? it's not like RAM, i'm pretty sure your computer can only use one at a time. This should be googleable, though.

It' spossible to use 2 in tandem with something like a Crossfire bridge, but I'm not sure that's something you can do with 6 year old cards.

(And the cost of the bridge is probably about waht the cost of a new card would be.)

Unless you need the absolute fastest/latest, keep an eye on whoever is coming out with a new graphics card line; usually you can then pick up their previous generation cards heavily discounted.

I'm afraid as anon says, doesn't really worth that way :c

Do you know what slot type your motherboard has? you may need something backwards-compatable (and it may need an extra power output).

http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/1.70-setup-en.exe

(run it, click on motherboard tab to find out what motherboard, then google the motherboard to find out what slots you've got. I'm thinking PCI express 1.0 or 2.0)

Then you'll want to hunt the newest video card that fits in whatever slot you have.

*check how much memory you have while you're at it. If you want video card suggestions after finding out your expansion slots/memory feel free to reply. Happy to help, not much going on today :D

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "laggy" so maybe I'm wrong but what I'm imagining doesn't sound like something a video card would fix.

And I don't think you can use two, either. I had to replace mine recently and it caused all kinds of conflicts and issues having two installed (I *think* I got it sorted out now, at least I hope so).
