Adults who have sex were once kids. Adults who have sex sometimes have kids. Adults who have sex sometimes have relatives, friends, or neighbors who have kids.

I can understand not wanting to associate a kid with sex. But I think barring the mention of kids at all in a story that has erotic scenes is a little ridiculous. The two can be separated.
