11. God. I agree. I want some juicy gossip that could possibly hurt another person's feelings. All this "I SHIP X and Y, but my friends will disown me if they new!!" crap is paranoid, insecure and boring. X( FANDOM SECRETS YOU ARE LETTING ME DOWN, BOO.

34. Other people shouldn't stop you from doing you what you want. Especially in this context, it's kind of silly that you're letting a bunch of anonymous people on the internet hold you back.
In a Japanese class, everyone has liked anime at some point (even the teachers) and the vast majority still do like anime (at the same time, though, I find that most hardcore anime fans end up doing more poorly than the people who are in the class to learn Japanese for a career). I will admit, when I was taking Japanese, I hated the unshowered Cowboy Bebop t-shirt wearing fanboys who smelled repulsive and didn't realize that メリーくりすます　was "merry christmas". But a lot of my friends in my Japanese classes still liked anime and manga.
Just shower. And don't wear anime shirts every day. And study - for realz. And learn the language for a reason other than "I wanted to translate my animez 8B" and you should be fine.
Also, avoid using the term "baka" in class.

The thing that bugs me about the "I ship it" secrets is...why the fuck are they secrets? I thought letting your freak flag fly and maybe meeting other people into the same thing is...kind of the point of fandom. Most of them just make me think, "So why don't you write it/draw it/post it out in the open then, chickenshit?"

Most people's HOMG I'M SUCH A PERV freakouts look pretty damn tame to someone who's not in your head, feeling your embarrassment.

26. I don't get what you mean by "meeting fan expectations" either. I thought the game was another wonderful installment to the rest of the LoZ games, and they added enough new things to make it it's own unique game even as it connects to the others. (And it redeemed the Water Temple for me!)

My suggestion would be that you finish it. I don't know how far you got, but you should try and finish the game and see how it settles with you.

I do agree that Majora's Mask was an awesome game! :P

I've always written that off as a design flaw of the anime. I mean, for fuck's sake they can't even really keep the automail design consistent, so it never really bothered me.

#10 made me laugh, and I feel so bad. Because I know there's a very good chance I've made the same mistake somewhere.

#13 makes no sense to me. Yes, they're not officially in their characters' roles--but what does that matter? If it works for the icon's intent, it works. I mean, people in video game fandoms use fanart all the time, why can't people in tv fandoms use pictures of the actors outside of their role that just happen to suit their purposes?

#20 puzzled me, since there's comms for this pairing and a pretty decent amount of fanfic and fanart so I don't really get why the OP feels it needs to be a secret--I mean, I know there's an age difference, but in a few years that's not going to matter so much. (I've written small drabbles myself for it.)

#34 OP: please don't worry about that, go ahead and take Japanese! I'm taking it myself and it's been really interesting. Haven't really gotten any grief for both being an anime/video game fan and studying Japanese either, whether online or off.

#13 It makes sense to me, although I can't really put in words why exactly. It has to do with how most of Matt/Mo fanfiction is wildly out of character and the fandom as a whole wants to see the two as their Generic Gay Couple, whine that they don't do enough domestic stuff on the show, whine that they aren't lovey-dovey enough on the show... and yeah, an icon that shows Greg and Sendhil giggling and close fits their purpose. But why isn't the shippers' purpose to portray the relationship that they supposedly support the way it actually is?
So... I guess the icons are more... symptomatic? Does that make sense?

3. The original movies were groundbreaking, and paved the way for sci-fi as we know it. The new movies, were, to me, just an excuse to re-capitalize on the Star Wars franchise. A damn shame.

13. The appeal for Matt/Mohinder likely comes from that fact that they're living together, and raising Molly together. Greg/Sendhil is a little disturbing, though.
