I'm thinking you're misinterpreting what "crackpairings" are; the word is a bit of a misnomer, I admit. The word "crackpairings" is used in the sense that they are unusual, unpopular, crossedover, whatever, anything that may make them hard to consider canon by the fandom, or maybe when you see the names pushed together you go "what"? Not really the sort that are done for a joke.
