I understand how banning things like rape porn or bestiality works, but these are just regular harmless kinks, so now I'm imagining the members of the Parliament seriously debating as to whether they should ban face sitting and female ejaculation... and bringing up reasons as to why...

Well, that's basically what it is. The banned random kinks. They banned female ejaculation because they banned pee - and some brainiac figured it's impossible to tell the difference between pee and ejaculate, so they banned it both. Because they're smart like that.

It passed because they've been wanting to crack down on porn for a while now. And they ended up banning mostly just random things.

I don't think they disproportionally target women, I just think they show a complete lack of understanding of human sexuality.

It's not against the law to consume. It's against the law to produce, because they've altered legislation that was originally aimed at video pornography from eleven years ago to cover the internet.

The reason that it covers what it does is because they don't believe that female ejaculation is a thing and that it's urine, and the rest is banning suffocation and violence.

I mean it's still terrible legislation, and an extension of our regressive approach to freedom of expression.

Constantly let down by just how pathetic the ECHR is. For all intents and purposes the 'you have a right to freedom of speech' is treated as 'I mean free speech is good and all when it's nice speech, but we didn't want to protect bad speech, let's not go crazy here'.

I heard it was even more ridiculous than that - spanking was banned by British laws. Spanking! Absurd. But yeah from what I read, a lot of the laws seemed to be non-equivalent between the genders. I don't know, some I got the sense were "protecting women from violence" but they really fucked any BDSM production over. (you also can't have an actor bound feet and arms and gagged, because apparently it is impossible to set non-verbal, non hand-gesture safe words with British actors)

I'm American but I live here now. Kind of afraid to watch any porn here... stick to reading, I don't think anything literary is banned, is it?

I'm tired of shit like female ejaculation all over porn. I mean don't get me wrong, if you can do it that's awesome, but it's just another thing that guys are going to make women feel weird about not being able to do and that women start competing over. I remember when that started happening with anal when I was in college and it leads to messed up shit. At least people probably aren't going to be physically hurt when their significant other insists that a normal orgasm isn't quite the applause they deserve for having fucked them but it's still a problem.

I'm all for regulating porn more but this doesn't seem to entirely be out of concern for the actors, which is the only reason I want porn to be regulated because I want these people to be safe and healthy.

And when I first heard about the story, it did strike me as targeting female pleasure and it honestly wouldn't surprise me if there was sexism behind it. I mean think about how much sex there is in regular movies but the instant a woman is gone down on it turns the rating from PG-13 to NC-17.
