Have you ever been in love? Like, that person is the only thing you see when they're around and everything else is just background noise? Because if you have, you wouldn't think cheating is no big deal.

You know, I don't get it when I get this response. Granted, I may take dramatic license in describing my feelings - I'm a writer of shipper fanfic, after all - but I honestly wonder how mild a person's feelings are for their SO if they can't relate to what I'm describing. Or maybe the problem is me. I've never been "half in" in a relationship, it's always been "all in or all out". Or maybe my feelings are stronger than other people's feelings? IDK. But I've never had the urge to boil anyone's bunny before so I don't think they're all that unhealthy. Obsessive, I will cop to because I'm a generally addictive person anyway.

I'm married, we've been together eleven years, and trust me, my feelings are incredibly strong. But even at the beginning, the whole time, I had my friends and family and interests, as she did too. Being singularly obsessed with your SO isn't unhealthy in the "I'll kill you if things don't go my was" way, it's unhealthy in the isolating way, and it doesn't mean that your feelings are any more strong or pure than those that have their own separate lives in addition to their relationships.

I've been married 20 years, two kids, and we're not sewn at the hip. Strong attachments and feelings don't isolate me, so please don't assume that. I had my interests, friends, and family when we met, when we married, and I still have them.

Um, I think that's actually pretty normal for the "infatuated" phase of a relationship. It usually cools off. (If it didn't, then I'd be worried)

Idk, that still sounds weird and very...naive, to me? That level of gooey-eyed infatuation is something I attribute more to middle-schoolers and high-schoolers that I just starting out dating and haven't figured out how to balance new love with the rest of their lives.
