Am I the only one who thinks they look cheap and cliche? They're clean and neat, and the colours are pleasant to look at, but that's about it. It doesn't even have anything to do with my attitude towards the series (I don't really hate it - in fact, I'm glad it exists because it's so hilarious) - this design is just... meh.

Now they look cheap and cliche, but didn't they start the trend of simple covers like that? Maybe I spend too much in the fantasy section but I thought they stood out a bit for not having any photos/paintings of people with windswept hair, shiny armor and swords and fainting women.

Ngl, they might've done. But I don't dislike the fact that they're minimalist, I dislike the fact that they're so pointless and sort of just... pretty for the purpose of being pretty. Plus, the symbols they use are very tired.

DA Well, they were a lot less tired when the books first came out. I didn't love the covers, but the fact that they were fairly minimalist was very eye catching. It was a nice change of pace from the usual "two people posed in an angsty yet anatomically questionable position" cliche.
