(Anonymous) 2015-01-04 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)I mean, it would've been really sad, Ron's one of my favorite characters. But I pictured Ron in a big sacrifice scene to save everyone else - mirroring the chess game from the first book - and finally getting to be the big hero. It would've also been more effective because it would've really hit the audience. Personally, all the other deaths were relatively minor, so I didn't think they were that meaningful beyond the "aw. sad." but maybe that's just me?

I don't think killing Ron would've been a great idea, but I do like the balancing/foreshadow-y sacrificial aspect.

And yeah, I also wish we'd gotten a bit more motivation from Snape beyond him loving Lily.
