Most of your complaints can be applied to tumblr too. Maybe you don't notice as much since you're a clique or whatever, but I assure you they're still there.

Personally, I can't deal with most fandom people long term and the drama involved so anon communities suit me best.

Tumblr isn't really clique-y. Sure you might have friends you interact with more than others but there is no privacy or ways to keep certain people out. The only privacy is responding to one persons ask privately, but that's just one person, not a clique.

With LJ you can have an entire community that only allows in a certain group and nobody else can see what's going on. Tumblr doesn't have anything like that. You can follow any blog you want without needing to be approved.
