And I don't see a big change in the cliques in any site.


This. It even grew in bigger numbers as soon as the refugees from LJ migrated to Tumblr. Fandom feels like, to me, that you have to have the same interests and hopefully you'll be accepted and have people like you in order to join your club. Those ilk would rather squash a bug than to converse with you, since not everyone's going to be your best friend.

So... how has fandom really changed?


Nope. Not by a long shot. Tumblr's no different than LJ in a sense that you still have your cliques, the hunting for a specific page/topic as you've mentioned, and your Social Justice Parade (then again, that's everywhere online, such as forums).

Fandom itself hasn't changed much, but the nature of sharing and viewing content has changed a lot and many people (including myself) find it harder to stay active as a result. :/
