there's password accounts on tumblr, so i'm not sure how it's all that different

(Anonymous) 2015-01-11 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I've almost never run into that.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-11 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
they're fairly common, but you're way less likely to run into them because of how the site's set up

Yeah I don't suppose you can reblog things from a password protected blog. With LJ you could post things from a f-locked blog pretty easily.

A lot of filesharing Tumblrs use password protected blogs also.

Once content is reblogged to someone else's journal on tumblr, doesn't it stay there even if the original blog deletes or password locks itself?

(Anonymous) 2015-01-11 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Unless they've changed something recently, yes.

They have actually set up a way for you to ask the staff to delete a post off someone else's Tumblr (I've used it for unsourced fanart) which nukes every reblog along with it, but that's the extent of it.

i don't think i've ever seen someone on tumblr publicly link to a fic they posted on their pw-protected sideblog

I've been on tumblr for years, and I've only run into that once. And even then the post I wanted to see was still visible since several other people reblogged it or I already had it in my 'likes'.

Not a lot of people do that though. I've ran into more deleted blogs than password protected blogs.
