Re: Weird things you judge people for?

I just anyone who reblogs this text post on tumblr
"if you ever try to befriend me and you expect to be in frequent contact with me i am so sorry. i do that with maybe two people and even then i often go days or weeks without saying anything before talking daily for a while.

the point is if we dont talk that doesnt mean i dont like u and think about u a lot im just terrible at maintaining close relationships"

If both of you are not talking to each other, fine. But if someone repeatedly tries to talk to you and you just ignore them, YOU ARE AN ASSHOLE. Take some fucking responsibility for your own asshole actions.

I'm not sure what you mean by this? Are you saying that if someone pesters you enough on Tumblr you're obligated to reply, or else you're an asshole?

ETA: I didn't realize you were talking about cases where friendships are already established. I read it more as "if you try to befriend me I may not respond to your overtures". If it's people they're already friends with then I totally agree, that's rude. :/

"But if someone repeatedly tries to talk to you and you just ignore them, YOU ARE AN ASSHOLE."

No, they're simply exercising their right to choose who they want/don't want to interact with.

The tone of the post seems to me to mean someone that the OP has befriended. Obviously someone close enough to be a friend (close relationship). you don't just stop talking to a friend for no reason. and then months later expect them to be hunky dory with you ignoring them for months because you just have a cute [personality trait.

it's a little different if they insist they like you tho

It still doesn't trump their right to choose who/when/how they interact.

still doesn't not make you an asshole for not talking to someone for months with no explanation and no reason.

NA

of course not. they have no obligation to interact with you ever. but at a certain point it becomes harder and harder to believe that they do, in fact, like you. and it's your right to conclude that they're just not that into you. and to some extent, if two people actually want to maintain a relationship, it's on both of them to do so.

you can do that, but you're an still an asshole if you say you value someone's friendship and do jackshit to maintain it

If you're choosing never to interact with someone, you're not their friend, and should stop insisting that you are.
