Hm, really?

I wonder if I was just never that hung up on particular scenes in HP because I haven't thought of it this way. (And there ARE books for which I do get hung up on certain scenes. so idk.)

I'm curious - any other major scenes that disappointed you?

(Ok, I can think of one exception for HP - I thought the scene where Neville killed Nagini wasn't done well. And Voldy's death, even though it wasn't a ~favorite~ of mine, esp. compared to the rest of DH, was also really anticlimactic. But DH2 was still a really good movie to me IDK)

I have never forgiven the 6th movie for cutting out the battle at the end. Death Eaters are just prancing through the school and no one is stopping them.

I don't really remember that. It was a very good battle scene in the book, though!

Me, too! HBP was overall a really underwhelming movie, maybe the most underwhelming out of all of them and that makes me sad because the book is my favorite.

Not OP
I wanted more from Fred's death, Perry's return and Remus' fatherly fears. I get why they weren't there given that Harry is the main guy, but I wanted them just the same. Also more from Snape. His story was barely in the movie that bears his name.

I wonder if they didn't show a lot of Snape in movie 6 bc they didn't realize how popular he'd end up being. Then they focused so much on him in 7.2 to the point where perhaps it excluded some of the other characters/scenes that were important to the ending.

They totally screwed (to the point I can't watch POA) the reunion of Sirius and Remus and the explanation of who they were to James so that them being part of the rest of the movies made no sense. They were nothing in the movies when that scene in the shack was a major development both for Harry's character and the overall plot.

I'm just trying to remember if in the books Remus and Sirius were as "teehee, let's kill Peter together!"as they were in the movie.

The whole thing, to me, was much more solemn, but they were doing it together. They roll up their sleeves, saying their goodbyes to him, until Harry stops them and says he reckons his dad wouldn't want them to become murderers for his sake.

This so much. The Shrieking Shack scene is so great in the book and the movie really didn't do it justice. Of course, I think the PoA movie was a terrible adaptation in general since apparently backstory isn't important enough to include.

I also have issues with Dumbledore's death in that they made Harry trust Snape when one constant about Harry is that he never trusts Snape. I don't know why they decided not to keep him (Harry) frozen underneath the Invisibility Cloak.

PoA is my favorite book and my least favorite movie.

Why God.

Same. PoA is actually one of my favourite books period, not just my fav of the HP series.

The movie is objectively a better film than the first two but it's definitely the worst adaptation of the series.

PoA was my favorite before HBP, so I love the book a lot but I do like the movie, or rather I love parts of it. The scene on the bridge with Remus and Harry is beautiful on every conceivable level, for example. Also my problems with that movie are the same that I have with all the movies, so it doesn't stand out as bad for me, so I can like what I like about it.
