What's the best worst thing

(Anonymous) 2015-01-15 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
...that you last read or watched?

I just finished a book called 'The Harem of Aman Ackbar'. The cover has scantily-clad maidens being menaced by a crocodile; the titular Aman is basically Aladdin, used his genie wishes to first make himself rich, then get himself a nice selection of nubile brides from different cultures. He goes courting a 4th wife and gets turned into a donkey, and his 3 other wives (all different colors and personalities, gotta catch 'em all!!) have to go on a quest to restore him to human-ness. The book is a very pulp-fiction version of a fairy tale and it was terrible and amazing.

The Oogieloves. It's the adventures of a bunch of horrifying mascot-esque things trying to find the only five balloons in all of Lovelyloveville for their narcoleptic pillow friend's party, with the help of a bunch of actors who presumably couldn't talk their agents out of the movie. It's so bad it's amazing.

I read a history of how that thing got made; it's kind of fascinating. Haven't seen the movie, though. I'm trying to cut down on my drinking.

I haven't seen the film, but I'm so tempted to, especially since I watched Brad Jones (The Cinema Snob) and his friends review and the way they described the experience. "Hey kids! Do you like BUBBLES?"

I've already talked about this on here before, but probably "I, Frankenstein" it was almost too stupid to be enjoyable, but not quite so it ended up being fun. I mean, any movie that involves a broody and inexplicably sexy Frankenstein's monster is bound to be somewhat amusing.

I also say a movie recently that was called "Grabbers" which I actually enjoyed. It's a dumb horror movie that takes place in Ireland about these sea creatures that are attacking people and taking their blood and the only way to save yourself is to get fucking wasted because alcohol is poison to them. It's as ridiculous as it sounds, but I was kind of surprised by how much I genuinely liked some of the characters. it also had Russell Tovey in it (George from Being Human) which I didn't know about, so that was a nice surprise.

Russell Tovey is just great to watch--he's really good, in my opinion (and they gave him the best lines in BH)

Some smut novella where a young attractive widow works overnight in an art gallery in which a very hot big dicked statue of a Roman soldier comes to live and fucks her brains out. Also they fall in love and she frees him from the curse imprisoning him as a statue. It was kind of awful but I liked it anyway.

Do they have one where the small-dicked Greek statues come alive and want to fuck her teenage son?

I swear I read this back when the author, whose name I don't remember, had it up on their website alongside their Phantom of the Opera, Gargoyles, Beauty and the Beast, and Hunchback of Notre Dame fanfic.

I watched a YA paranormal romance movie called Beautiful Creatures today (or at least most of it) and it was way better than it had any right to be. The plot was dumb as heck, but the two leads were just really likable, and the supporting actors were amazing hammy funny, and it had a decent Southern Gothic vibe, and it had witches (clearly a top-tier paranormal monster category to make a movie about), and the whole thing was just really stylishly done. It just looked cool and had a lot of sweet stuff in it. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I read that book awhile ago and liked it. Didn't realize it was a movie. I need to find this.

Oh, man - that has Jeremy Irons in it. And Emma Thompson. I kind of wondered why they would do such a....throw away kind of movie.

(I do adore Mr. Irons, though.)

Go to the "hentai quotes" gallery on Know Your Meme, then look up the quoted hentai and actually read their plots. So much so-bad-it's-good goodness . . .

I been watching a lot of terrible-good movies that were on Film Sack (so pretty good movies that have NOT aged well). Best one I have seen lately is The Firm.

The movie is called 'Isolation' and it has Sean Harris in the cast. It involves mutant cows or some such nonsense. I watched it for Sean Harris and all I got out of it was that Great Britain is weird about cows.

OH MY GOD I SAW THAT BOOK! It was in my middle school library!

I think I read like the first five pages and gave up, because I didn't understand why the women would WANT to save him.

And the book I'm reading on art therapy and DID is pretty hilaribad. There are enough typos for lulz to be had (the best one involves talking about people who keep "dairies and journals") and it's full of over-the-top racist bullshit about how it's normal for Japanese mothers to masturbate small children in public.

I can't believe this book was published in '01. AND I CAN'T STOP READING IT.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. There's so much wrong with it, but Steve Carell is absolutely great in it and also bizarrely hot (the big 80s hair really does it for me, apparently).
