Short of a major government upheaval I don't see that happening. Right now we're at a point where Muslims could assassinate Obama and suicide bomb the Eiffel Tower and people would be more concerned about "islamophobia" or hurting their feelings with pictures of Mohammed.

...duh? If the actions of a small group of terrorists are blamed on all Muslims, this could mean more wars, which would lead not only to countless civilian deaths, but also to more extremist islamic groups emerging in response to the violence against innocent people.

I'm hardly advocating full-scale war, just holding Muslims up to the same standards as other religious groups.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay then. The KKK is a Christian terrorist group, yet we don't make all Christians accountable for that crimes. So surely you must be advocating for NOT making random people unattached to extremist groups accountable for the crimes of others, right?

Right?

(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
The difference is no one denies that the KKK is a Christian group.

Whereas even suggesting that these terrorists are Muslims is offensive because they're not *true* muslims.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
DA, but no, not exactly. I completely acknowledge that they're Muslims. However, not all Muslims are them.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-18 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Are you kidding me? Plenty of people will try to No True Scotsman the KKK out of existence as an example of Christian-based terrorism.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
better ask the pope for that KKK thing, then?

(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That's obviously untrue and I think you know it's untrue.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, shut up.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
NO U

(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with you.

Maybe certain segments of the internet. There will always be extremist left-wingers as there are right-wingers. But not the population as a whole.

I think it was William Gibson who once said that both ends of the political spectrum tend to circle back and meet each other, in horrible ways. I, like the maker of secret #1, thought it was a really good quote, but I can't recall the particulars of it, now.

Welll there was the Rotherham child sexual abuse scandal. Where officials let it go on for years because they did not want to be accused of being racist against Muslims.

It was much, much more complicated than that, actually. Police misogyny played a significant part for a start.
