Honestly, I'd say showing up early is a much better sign that showing up late. If it's only your second date, chances are he was a bit nervous and wanted to make sure that he got there on time. I know I'm almost always early to important things like appointments and job interviews specifically because I don't want to run the risk of being late if I get stuck in traffic or whatever. I tend to allow myself more time than I actually need to get somewhere, and if I get there early, that's fine by me.

+1

Being late to anything is always very frustrating for me, so I tend to show up to things at least an hour and a half or forty five minutes early even though it's completely ridiculous. If I'm supposed to be at someone's house though, I often just sit in my car in a nearby parking lot or something until the specified time approaches though so that I don't throw someone off my showing up to their house super early. It was maybe a bit inconsiderate of the guy to show up early because he should have considered the idea that those twenty minutes were being used for preparation, but he was probably just too nervous or excited to think to deeply about it

I think you're right. I'm just paranoid.

nayrt

I think your knee jerk reaction is understandable due to your past experiences, but unless you start getting more warning flags from him, it would be good to try to just relax and enjoy his company. I hope you guys hit it off!

I'm gonna try. We're supposed to go for a hike and dinner after work sometime this week. :)

I do the same, except that if I get there too early I don't go in too early, I find some way to kill time, no matter how bizarre it is

That's probably more being a dysfunctional socially awkward nervous wreck as much as anything though

No, I was taught not to show up too early because people might still be getting ready. If I'm early to a party or something, I end up hanging out in the car and listening to music for a while. :/
