I've played through Origins twice and both times I made Loghain do the ritual. By that point in the game I was always broken up with Alistair anyway (went on to romance Zevran after the Landsmeet in m first game, and didn't bother with anyone else in the second), and since I was playing as an elf marriage wasn't an option... I just wanted to pick the option with the lowest bodycount xD The kid seems okay in the end anyway, if a little creepy.
