Oooooh, read the comics. The movies (well, the first more than the second, which I didn't like much and actually fell asleep during) are incredibly faithful to the vibe and aesthetic, so if you like them, you'll definitely enjoy the comics. Plus, you'll get more Hellboy, since Pacific Rim 2 is going to happen and Hellboy 3 probably won't.

(I would also prefer Hellboy 3. I loved Pacific Rim, but it felt complete to me.)

I feel that the storyline of the second film was a little more Hellboy-esque than the first. Or at least it draws attention to the fantasy/mythology aspect of HB that was missing from HB1, which was more Lovecraftian. I think the first is a much better film, but Hellboy spends a lot of time rubbing elbows with fae-folk and mythical beasts so I was pleasantly surprised that they dropped the supernatural crime-fighter angle a little with the second movie. I guess it's not that the second film was more canon or anything.. maybe I'm just glad it was inclusive of other Hellboy elements. I dunno.
