I was the cook at a camp, which meant that I was also in charge of taking inventory of what food to order- though I wasn't actually in charge of the ordering. Whilst working, I manged to completely forget that we needed to order tomato sauce for spaghetti night one week (we made do with spaghetti sauce from the local supermarket, but it was a lot) and rice noodles for pad thai night another week (though this did go a bit better, since we had a ton of rice, and it turns out that small children are more likely to try new things (peanut sauce, spicey sauce, those crunchy bean thingies) when they have stuff they do know to eat with it (chicken, rice, eggs).

I got period blood all over on of my male boss's expensive gray chair while I was in a meeting with him.

I can't tell you how awkward it was to stand up, look down and see the stain and then realize he'd seen it too.

Just thinking about it now literally makes me want to sink into the floor.

Got a cherry limeade from Sonic. Was trying to fish out the cherry, poked a hole in the bottom, and got the drink allll over my pants. :(

Bound in masking tape, handcuffed to a chair, and then had another probie in hazard tape bound to me.

Seen by Segeants, Inspector, entire team.

Left to free ourselves.

Uniformed services not even once.

(it was an important moment, it's when you know you're accepted as part of the team)

I might have gotten too drunk one night after this thing and threw up on the floor next to one of the office couches. But! I'd already thrown up in the bathroom before then, so nothing stained.

Also a lot of weirder shit went down that night, so thankfully I actually ended up being just one of the footnotes.

Nothing really bad, thank heavens. I've done embarrassing things at other peoples' work parties but I don't care nearly as much.

I work for a company with multiple locations; one day I saw on the caller ID the name of my company, and I thought it was our nearby location because they're usually the only ones whoever call. I say cheerfully, "hey (location name)!"

... it was someone from corporate. When I tried to explain, they were still confused and most unamused.

It's not really that awful, but...as some of you know, I'm overweight. I used to work in a museum, and one of the visitors thought I was pregnant. Along with the whole "you shouldn't be walking around that much".
I was like: "nah, I'm not pregnant, I'm just fat."

It's awkward, because obviously it's no compliment, but you have to stay at least moderately nice to visitors - though to be honest, she seemed more embarrassed than me.

Not that bad, as far as things go, but a toilet overflowing while my boss was in a meeting. She had made it clear that this was a Very Important meeting, not to be interrupted unless there was an emergency.

I thought water flowing under the inventory shelves was an emergency. Lucky for me, she agreed.

(At least the plumbing disaster wasn't my fault!)

One day (during my first teaching prac) I had to give a presentation and there was a fanfic folder in there titled the portmanteau name of the ship.

I think everyone was a bit confused about what the name meant, so I lied and said it was the name of my dog, and quickly clicked into the powerpoint file. I have never been so nervous or embarassed in my life, though thank god I didn't actually open the text file.

I hope none of them knew what it was otherwise I would have been revealed as a giant geek to all the teenagers in that room.

But, you know, it could have been worse. I could have accidentally clicked open the text file. Or there could have been a bunch of images in there. THAT would have been fun to explain!

I am never, ever, EVER mixing up my work and home USBs ever again.

I have been terribly afraid of such a thing happening. I really should have a usb just for fic-y things and work related material...I'm sure there was one kid whose day you made. And because they were so excited to know there was a prof who was into it too, they did not reveal your secret. OR...you could have been right and no one knew.

I'm glad you didn't click on the folder at least! I remember someone on another comm talking about how they accidentally sent BDSM Sherlock fic to their professor because they got some files mixed up, so it could have been worse!

I was talking to a co-worker about a course of action I KNEW my boss would take (or not take since it's his lack of initiative about some things that drive me batshit crazy) and afterwards I went to him with the problem. He did exactly what I thought he would. So I went back to my desk and emailed my co-worker, telling her he did what I thought he'd do, which was nothing. And I said this problem was going to get worse. Only I'm so used to emailing my boss, that instead of emailing my co-worker, I accidently typed my boss' name and sent the stupid email to HIM.

I was horrified, tried to recall the email, managed to recall the email off his email account on his computer but totally forgot he also receives emails on his damned fucking company phone and I most definitely did NOT recall that copy. And how I found out I hadn't gotten away with it is he called me and said, "you know, I read your email."

I get names wrong all the time.

I misunderstood a task once while trying to explain it (what they had to do for their part) to someone else so had to go get the higher lvl person to explain it for me. Don't think he liked me very much after that :(

Being the support buddy at a hr thing and dude threw a tantrum. A literal tantrum. I had no idea what to do. Kinda ashamed to show my face in that workplace now /gottagotheretoday
