he was a creepy fuck who had basically been stalking her for years. He was fucking obsessed. up until she killed him, I honestly thought this was going to be a "Stupid evil girl fakes rape and murder get's raped and murdered by vile stalker and is put in her place" story

Look, the problem is that we HEAR about the creepy shit he did, not see it. Through Amy, which we know is not a reliable narrator. For all we know it wasn't stalking - maybe she deliberately encouraged it to suits her plan. It's not like she didn't do things like, oh, falsely accuse people of rape or tried to get them executed for a murder they didn't commit...
We don't really see him do anything bad on-screen, on the contrary. He puts a roof over her head, picks her up at her lowest, gives her clothes, doesn't press for sex because he thinks she's traumatized. While yes, he might have an unhealthy obsession with her, that is hardly the sort of man who deserves to be slaughtered like livestock.
