Be outraged on your niece's behalf. Tell and show her that what those bullies did was not right at all, and that you are on her side without question. What you should not do is bring her weight up. Seriously, it is a little like victim-blaming, linking her weight to what happened to her. She shouldn't change, her bullies should.

It's a LOT like victim. It IS victim blaming. It's saying it's her fault those people pick on her, and make mean manips about her. Not their shitty judgement and personalities.
