(Anonymous) 2015-01-21 10:39 am (UTC)(link)Amy's spent her love and youth on a man who is, essentially, using her up. The world is fundamentally unfair in that situation; even, biology's unfair. There's no recourse. Lost years cannot be gotten back. Her husband broke faith with her, not law. There will be no punishment for him while for her, even "leaving" cannot restore what he took. Let's see: male divorcees vs female divorcees...the winner's obvious.
The work is feminist because it is a violent fantasy that stil draws upon a lot of issues unique to women in society. Amy's not a random act of mad violence; she subverts "femininity" as a source of purposeful and directed strength. She's an anti-hero.
