More like a prequel to the ending. They said 02's ending, the one the fandom hates, is still canon. This is just how they got there.

I know Yamato/Sora is more popular than Taichi/Sora in Japanese fandom. Ken/Miyako is also much more popular than in the West, although Daisuke/Ken still might be more popular than it (but even its fans over there probably wouldn't like it being canon, which it never would be anyway).

Sounds awesome to me, since the main problem with the ending was that there was no explanation for how they got there.

But then I don't care about shipping in Digimon, so maybe that was just my problem...

Lol, omg I kind of hope Digimon (Western) fandom is still around, this sounds like it would deliver even more on the wank front than SMC. /nonnie who also hated the 02 ending.
