Re: Dragon Age Inquisition thread

Maybe you should think about repeating this thread in the next post, since it's kinda late for a lot of people? But anyway:

I think there is no real "sex scene" like there were in Origins but the Bull romance is very much implied to be a BDSM romance (considering they go out of their way to explain safewords to the player and I really thought that was more silly than anything else). I think you can pursue other romances as well but it might depend on how much you flirted with the other LI until that point in the game because I think you can only trigger the romance after a certain amount of flirting and once you miss too many chances you can't do it anymore?

I have to say that I was more than bored by the two gay options for men so I ended up not romancing anyone for the first time in a Dragon Age game. I really wanted to romance Solas with my male elf Inquisitor and I still don't understand why he was gender-locked (while the race-lock makes sense with his story, the gender-lock really doesn't and I thought it was a bit unfair. Especially since there are some soundfiles left from the male version, so they at recorded at least some of them and it's sad that it's not in the game.).

Considering the spoilers at the end of the game (which I won't mention here since you asked not to), it would have been exactly the kind of romance I would have liked to play.

Yeah I don't know what's up with Solas yet, but I have heard that his romance "makes sense for the story" or something.

I honestly wish they had made everyone bisexual again. While I applaud them trying to be "serious" with LGBT representation, it just seems to me that in an RPG people should be able to play their story however they like and romance whoever. Maybe one gender could be more difficult than another but still.

As I said, the race-lock makes sense for him, the gender-lock really, really doesn't (like, of all the characters with a gender-lock, it makes the least sense with him. Or rather, none at all.).

I agree. I totally get what they were going for, but it was all good intentions but "well meant" is not necessarily the same as "well executed". I would have been cool with "one gender-lock for every sexuality" and have everyone else be game-bisexual because damn it, there's time travel and demons and magic, it doesn't have to be realistic in the romance department. Especially since, in my opinion, the way the sexualities were handled was not done very thoughtfully. Or maybe too thoughfully so much that it seemed like a parody rather than a real thought out matter.

It's not like the LI's would obviously all be bisexual - at least you wouldn't notice it ingame because you play the game with one character/gender at a time.
