You sound very young.

You sound very condescending.

Not AYRT Well to be fair, it's kinda obvious, isn't it? Everyone else is talking about houses and savings with a weary kind of tone, and this anon is talking about blowing $200 million on fandom merch and doujin-whatevers. They do sound really young.

Re: If you won the lottery...

(Anonymous) 2015-01-25 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
NA

I mean, I'm kind of assuming that no one is spending all 200 million on these things. 200 million is an insane amount of money. So I'm assuming that anon just didn't bother mentioning the part about investing a lot of it.

AYRT Meh, could be. Either way, don't really care I'm afraid. Just making an observation.

Yep, this.

Re: If you won the lottery...

(Anonymous) 2015-01-25 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh. Maybe I just think stating the obvious is kind of obnoxious.

Some people just don't care about houses so much, tbh. I know some people have strong feeling about it, but I'm not a teen and my main requirement of a home is a) heating and b) room to put my stuff. Frankly I don't even care if I have a bed.

Yes, let's ALL answer this fictional hypothetical scenario with as least fun as possible. You want to buy fan stuff with your $200 million? ~so young~ you should be buying a house and paying off debt, you child you

To the anon above who finds that condescending, there are those of us who wish to have such simple needs/goals in life. Life, unfortunately, very very often has other plans. Or as the saying goes, "Men make plans and God laughs."

Re: If you won the lottery...

(Anonymous) 2015-01-25 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
omg, fuck off, people. $200 mil, in a fantasy "you won the lottery!" scenario, and you turn up your nose at an anon who, on a fandom board, says they'd buy fan stuff? You have got to be trolling.

Uh oh. Butthurt anon is butthurt.

And that attitude is exactly what I find so condescending.

When people talk about having simple needs, do they really mean "Fandom merch, doujinshi/etc"? That's funny.

It would be $200 million. I think they can spare a bit for fun shit. I'd be buying every Funko Pop toy available and the most awesome computer I could find.

Re: If you won the lottery...

(Anonymous) 2015-01-25 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
you sound boring. lol

power to ayrt, spend that hard earned lottery money on whatever makes you happy!

Re: If you won the lottery...

(Anonymous) 2015-01-25 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Just so you know, I'll be paying off loans for probably the rest of my life, but my first thought to this question is also "ALL the fan stuff". I'd commission like a hundred artists to draw my favorite pairings, too. and go to all the conventions, in all the awesome cosplays... life would be good.

Most exciting answer in this thread.

Re: If you won the lottery...

Only fun answer in this thread and everyone's dogpiling them because they're not spending it on debt or whatever.

Re: If you won the lottery...

(Anonymous) 2015-01-25 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the problem is a bit of miscommunication. Obviously no one would put all of 200 million toward boring necessities. The people saying they'd pay off loans and save are saying that's their first priority, and once that's done they'd use the rest for fun stuff. I think people are just annoyed at the (probably incorrect) inferred "OP has no boring necessities to pay before they can get to the fun stuff", which can understandably be kind of annoying when a lot of your worries are tied up in those things.

I was one of those that said loans, house, vacation, saving, but after that I would totally be blowing thousands on fandom stuff.

SA

Wow, I commented and stepped away.... I never said that's the only way I'd spend it. Those are just my main interests right now.

I mean, of course I'd share it with my parents, and of course I'd save a lot of it.
