Not really there even. It's inaccurate terminology. There's just not a lot of het.

How are the fans erasing it?

Canon het couples don't magically become less canon or less het no matter how much slash or femmeslash there is.

Similarly, the volume of slash produced does not in any way impede het writers from also producing works.

In fairness, people who want to talk about LBGT erasure do, in fact, sometimes argue that putting canon LBGT characters into het ships actually constitutes erasure

I think this is a stupid position, for much the same reasons you've outlined here, but it is a thing that people actually think

you may be technically correct but i think it is wrong in terms of the larger connotations of the term

Yes, how dare minority sexualities decide to interpret characters as non-heterosexual! We should just deal with the scraps we're given!
