OP of 21
(Anonymous) 2008-01-04 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)what a lot of anime fans find wrong:
real people in general. man, woman, anything. they're so caught up in a fantasy world that they forget people exist. i'm not talking about Gackt & Miyavi in general, a couple I happen to like (which btw, A LOT of jrockers do fanservice, which lead to such things). Even a fluff of a music, tv show, movie, etc. couple would make them squirm, if it wasn't animated
what a lot of anime fans find ok:
"I masturbated to this picture of *Naruto, InuYasha, insert character name here* because that scene was SOOOOO hot!"
Does that sound normal? No, it sounds WEIRD. It's not even porn! At least do it to an anime porn
which still I find weird, but whatever. You will never have sex with a ninja or a dog demon or whatever- get over it. Sure, you can love the anime to death, but mastubating to it. Isn't that overboard? Anime fans don't find that weird because they're stuck in a fantasy world. That's what the secret means.
Re: OP of 21
(But of course not; you already admitted to that. And one now wonders, if you don't understand us, then why are you attempting to tell us our position is stupid- you don't get it. If I actively dismissed the everyone whose opinions I didn't understand, I'd be living in my bedroom permanently.)
Does that sound normal? No, it sounds WEIRD.
Dude, people don't have to have their sexual fantasies approved by you. I find a lot of things sexy that you might find "weird"-- and vice versa! Sexual fantasies are all about personal taste and idealized situations; in other words, they're fantasies.
And having sexual fantasies doesn't mean that someone's living in a fantasy world. No, I might never have sex with a dog demon or a gunslinger or a ninja or a pirate, or whatever. And all those women who DON'T watch anime will never be part of a harem, kidnapped by dark handsome strangers, forced to go down on another girl, or whatever. EVERYONE has fantasies, and yes, those sexual fantasies may be inspired or fueled by things people have read or seen-- fictional things.
Honestly, I find it a bit "weird" that you picked jrockers to represent your...thing. Like band members and lead singers and actors don't put on a front to the public! Like the act you see them put on is anything more than an act! The people you "know" them to be is at least as fictional as any character in a fictional tv show (animated or not).
That's why it's all just fantasy.
And if it's wrong to live in a fantasy world for ten minutes...
...er,
...thirty minutes...
(or more)
...while I jack off, then I'm ok being wrong!
Suck it up; deal with it; and move on! I might never have sex with a squad of hot underaged ninga, but you can never change my mind about what turns me on-- get over it.
Re: OP of 21
(Anonymous) 2008-01-04 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)The secrets about people masturbating to a goddamn picture of Naruto in a screencap is odd. If you're gonna go masturbate to a drawing, at least do it to a hentai, yaoi, yuri whatever that it would make sense to.
I don't care if people find my opinion weird or disgusting, whatever, that's their opinion. My opinion is that touching yourself to paper & ink is odd, & that's why I made the secret.
Re: OP of 21
Just because those characters aren't 3-D doesn't mean that I can't find something that I like about them, something in them that inspires me, something that turns me on. I can find traits in those characters that I can relate to, that I like to see in myself and in others; they exemplify the type of people that I am strongly attracted to or even wish to be myself.
One might argue that characters can become more real to us than "real" people in our daily lives-- in fact, it's be argued that is the point of fiction, period.
"One requisite of great writing is the ability to make a character come alive. By that we mean a capacity to go beyond the artful manipulation of words into the creation of a person who transcends the printed page. Who can claim that Melville's Captain Ahab or Dostoevski's Zossima are not in some intelligible sense 'real persons,' perhaps more real to us than some of the people in our daily lives? Such characters come off the page to converse with the reader; they seem to know us and our secrets at least as well as we know them; they reveal us to ourselves in ways not possible through simple self-analysis. Characters such as these are not mere projections of our psychological needs; they are independent selves capable of entering relationships. As Jung once said, 'It is not Goethe who creates Faust, but Faust which creates Goethe.' We discover the autonomy of such characters when they tell us things about ourselves we would rather not hear!"
-- Parker J. Palmer, To Know As We Are Known
Further:
I don't care if people find my opinion weird or disgusting, whatever, that's their opinion. My opinion is that touching yourself to paper & ink is odd, & that's why I made the secret.
I don't find it disgusting. I find it silly. And that if you think that jerking off to paper and ink is "weird", then I don't recommend buying stock in Playboy, as all it is is paper and ink. And a multibillion dollar business.
Re: OP of 21
(Anonymous) 2008-01-04 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)that whole paragraph, I totally respect that. I agree with you on that. Like, I love Kenshin's personality & I would love a guy that had a personality just like his. But, just because I love Kenshin, doesn't mean I'm going to go masturbate to his picture.
Is playboy animated? o_O I understand like yeah, nude models. When I mean paper & ink I mean people actually drawing out a character, I'm not talking about a photograph. Really, I don't know much about playboy so if there's drawings in there that people get off to...ah, ok. not my thing, would never do that. photographs I find different. *shrug*
i wasn't planning to buy stock there anyways xP
Re: OP of 21
That's because we're different.
But just because we're different doesn't mean that you can be insulting, saying that everyone who isn't like you is "weird" and "living in a fantasy world."
The reason you got everyone on your case-- since you STILL don't seem to realize it-- was because you were insulting to everyone you don't understand, which covers a lot of ground and a lot of people.
There's not a whole lot of difference (to me, anyway) between an obviously airbrushed photo that displays more Photoshopping skill than photographic ability and natural beauty and a beautifully rendered drawing. Often, one might argue, the drawing is more realistic than what passes as photos in today's nude magazines! (And that's not even mentioning the oh-so fake-sounding "profiles" that they put with these images, an attempt to give those airbrushed beauties some "personality-- what a joke! They have all the personality of a blow-up doll. Give me a Photoshopped piece of artwork of my favorite kick-ass female character any day of the week!)
Whether you're just oblivious to sarcasm or deliberately obtuse, my point was that when you say something as dippy as [m]y opinion is that touching yourself to paper & ink is odd, you have to consider the full reach of what you're saying. Photographs and drawings are BOTH paper and ink.
Re: OP of 21
The automatic argument that comes to my mind is that if it were that weird or out of the ordinary, hentai animes and mangas wouldn't be available in the mass quantities they are. And all the porny doujinshi for non-hentai stuff.
Hentai is not my thing, but written and drawn erotica has been around forever. What do you think people got off to before there was TV? I've got a bunch of collections of Victorian erotica, some of it illustrated, and that's just paper and ink. Of fictional characters. And there have been dozens of articles and books and whatnot done on books and art and drawings that weren't exactly pornographic, but still served the same purpose as Hustler and Playboy do today. Hell, in the early 1900s, pulp detective novels were often used as masturbatory aides in lieu of outright pornography. There was no nudity or anything in the illustrations or covers, but they were full of attractive people and semi-naughty situations. Still just paper and ink.
People can find all sorts of things arousing. It doesn't have to be intended to be pornographic for it to do the trick. What gets people's juices flowing is varied and complicated. And drawings have been serving that purpose for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.
I just don't find the idea weird at all, since it's...well, how porn started.
And um... I don't know, essentially everyone I know, online and off, is a huge anime fan, and I've yet to find one of them who eschews real life relationships. So I wouldn't go forth and say 'a lot' and perhaps say 'I've run into some'.
Re: OP of 21
what a lot of anime fans find wrong: real people in general.
And wow, uh...I don't know what anime fans you know, but all my buddies are perfectly fine with real life people (and relationships) as well as their fandom interests. Maybe you've just had really bad luck?
Re: OP of 21
Also, a fantasy is a fantasy. It's as simple as that. I doubt there's a lot of folks out there who have only ever gotten aroused by things that have actually happened to them personally at some point, so I think it's safe to say that fantasizing is normal. Who are you to draw the line?
PS: Where are you finding these people who are turned on by anime and creeped out by live human beings...?
Re: OP of 21
(Anonymous) 2008-01-05 04:26 am (UTC)(link)All I'm saying is I have come across too many people (anime fans) that when I say "I'm a fan of Gackt (or whoever it is)" they get disgusted by it. I didn't say him having sex with anyone or anything, just being a fan in general. & instead, they go & squee over a cartoon. which is fine, whatever, I love anime characters too. but to the point that you're masturbating to a cartoon, yes, I find it weird. If you don't find it weird, that's your opinion, but I do. That's my secret & that's why it's posted here. So I have every right to say that I find that weird here, as the people who post secrets about masturbating to photos.
You can agree with me or not, that's your opinion. I personally find it weird & gross, but you may find what I like weird & gross. Whatever. It's not like I'm saying "if you touch yourself to that cartoon you'll burn in hell". & people are asking me "why am I so interested in people's ways of masturbating". I'm not. I'm just saying what I think.
Seriously people, I'm sure every secret here makes a least one person go wtf. People agree & disagree. If my secret bothers you SOOO much, skip over it. You don't have to comment. Just stating my opinion-- don't like it, don't look.
End.
