(Anonymous) 2015-01-31 02:01 am (UTC)(link)Just don't throw a fit because the new culture is different than your old one. And that people here, who are unfamiliar with your culture, might view it with caution.
Like my dad, for example, grew up in a country where you can bargain for almost anything. Yet he constantly complains to the workers at the grocery store about prices here in the US. He's gotten better in recent years, but I don't think those people are wrong to get pissed at my dad. They're just minimum wage workers and have no control over the price. They CAN'T bargain with him and he's trying to impose his values on the US. And if people get upset with him, then it's HIS fault.
Like I said, he's gotten better. But I don't feel he's in the right in this case.
