I think I'm the only person on F!S who's still watching Helix. :(

It's a newish show on Syfy; the second season recently began. It's about scientists from the CDC, mysterious diseases (body horror), and a developing mythology/conspiracy arc. It's got some things in common with The Thing and LOST (including some LOST producers/writers).

My favorite thing about Helix is actually the soundtrack-- it's very heavy on "soundtrack dissonance" (happy/easy listening music played over something horrible/serious) or maybe even soundtrack irony ("You Give Me Fever" over a tense search scene for an infected person).

I have to warn new viewers to it NOT to take the science/lab technique very seriously, because that aspect of it is kind of shitty. It is SF zombie-attack conspiracy shenanigans with straight-out-of-a-soap-opera love triangles/family dynamics. The less seriously you take it, the better.

Nooooo! You're not! I haven't started watching season two yet because I'm terrible at keeping up with episodes as they come out, but I binge-watched season one last year and then had a mini-tantrum when it was all TO BE CONTINUED... IN 2015!

I was like, "Fuck yoooooooou." Though when I was watching season one I was like, "This is like Days of Our Labs or something. XD"

It's so crackalicious, I can't stop watching! It definitely fills the void of "mad science AND fucked up families" left by the end of Fringe.
