(Anonymous) 2015-02-06 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)I can only think of one example where this turned out to be the case and boy, I thought it was Christmas. I really was not expecting it ever after years of disappointment. Japanese fangirls always seems to be into exactly the stuff I'm not, like it's diametrical fate.

Going to echo the anon and say that finding good anime fiction of a popular series, is definitely a loosing battle.
However, with all three fandoms (even though I don't like "Free!" that much
kinda has a love/hate relationship with the series and fandom), I don't mind smut.no subject

(Anonymous) 2015-02-06 10:33 am (UTC)(link)Still not sure if that's more or less obnoxious than calling black-haired character "the raven."

(Anonymous) 2015-02-06 01:06 am (UTC)(link)I think it's just the trend among most of the age-group who are most prolific when it comes to writing fic for the flavor-of-the-moment shows.

I'm mostly the same; I did a bit of reblogging and fanfic reading while the anime was airing but haven't touched it lately. I did read a couple of decent Hinata/Kageyama fics, but most everything else (both H/K and other pairings) was pretty bad. Sometimes you just have to dig through a lot of shit to find decent fic.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-06 03:05 am (UTC)(link)Having already been through the really shitty fandoms (like SnK, Naruto, or Free!) Haikyuu!! is a breath of fresh air for me. Thankfully Haikyuu!! is big enough to have more to look through but it isn't as ridiculous as other big fandoms. From my experience at least.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-06 02:56 am (UTC)(link)I've found a lot of good stuff, though I guess for everyone it varies.
Yeah, I've seen a lot of preachy SJW type stuff but I tend to just ignore it.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-06 03:22 am (UTC)(link)It seems most new anime attracts the SJW crowd that use fandoms as their podium. Like your secret says, I've seen a couple fics that make Sugawara made a transperson just because he's the mother figure of the team. I've also seen people get offended when [whatever character] is portrayed as anything other than asexual/aromantic.
I don't mind people having their headcanons or writing about them, but it does come of as preachy or trying to be edgy. It's definitely not exlcusive to Haikyuu!! fandom, but since that's the one I'm in most recently they stand out. Thankfully I've found enough good fic to not lose hope.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-06 05:11 am (UTC)(link)Text: I love this show. I love it so much. But I can’t get into the fandom. I like/reblog artwork, but the fandom’s general attitude and the fanfiction is largerly terrible. The stories are either completely OOC, weird AUs (like, 70% of the stories are bad AUs), genderbending, full of ~edgy mental health issues ~, terribly researched and just plain badly written.
Seriously, it’s not that difficult doing a little basic research. If you still write the schools like a standard US highschool and can’t even be bothered to look up the very basic rules of volleyball when you write about it, why should anyone be bothered to read it?
As soon as they start using tumblr in the fics and start holding SJW speeches I’m outta there.
Trouble is people apparently love that shit
Plus it’s a fandom where I would prefer more fluff and less kinky smut.
And of course the “maternal” character is the taken transperson.

tl;dr My advice is that yeah, stay away from this particular fandom and maybe just follow the blogs that post official information or any blog of your otp. At least that's what I do with in this particular case.

(Though I have to admit that the one fanfiction I am following actually is an AU, strangely enough. But it's one of the most IC fics I have found in the fandom and hey, Pacific Rim AU.)
