Guess. Just GUESS.

But yeah, became legally disabled in 2012, got approved in 2013. By that point, I couldn't even feel guilt or shame anymore, just utter relief. No more homelessness, no more staggering through part-time jobs, no more keeping myself upright with starvation, dissociation, and overexercise. It was over; I could finally fucking REST. (Well, actually I couldn't. I didn't get actual proper housing for another four months, on account of bureaucracy.)

The "official" list is DID, EDNOS, and depression, though I honestly consider my depression more of a symptom rather than an illness in its own right. Hopefully I'll get off these damn meds eventually, but unfortunately, that probably won't happen until our brain stops popping up and going, "BY THE WAY YOU GOT RAPED BY YOUR GRANDFATHER AT CHRISTMAS! HAVE FUN BYE! (ps everyone knew and your aunt helped)"

Ugh, intrusive thoughts are the worst. And oh so underwhelmingly named.

On the other hand I'm now imagining a brain the sized of a medium-sized dog popping up all cheery like some puppet for Don't Hug Me I'm Scared.

Enh, intrusive thoughts aren't really the word for it. It's more that the memory blocks that are part of DID are breaking down, and it's turning out there was a LOT more rape in our past than I thought. (And I knew and had gone through a lot already.) So for the past six months, I've been on a treadmill of forgotten horrors bursting into my brain, accompanied with all the fallout.

Like, I do get intrusive thoughts too, but they're a separate issue.

And I've actually drawn our brain like that in my comics. You can see an example in the headerbar.

AYRT

That's almost exactly as I imagined it.

And ugh. Yea that's totally different from what I read as what was happening.

No worries, no way you could've known. But yeah, it's a little different from the "you suck, you're a waste of space and need to die," thoughts. Those, at least, I'm usually able to recognize as my brain being a sick brain. The flashbacks? Nah, I kinda HAVE to relive all this if I want to ever be free of it. (Unfortunately.)
