My mom wants us all to visit my grandfather in the hospital because it looks like he probably won't last much longer. I really don't want to go see him like that again but I don't feel like I can get out of it.

I'm sorry. When my grandmother was in her last weeks, we were taking care of her at home.

It is hard to see someone you love like that, but it is generally a comfort for them.

And I know it seems like that is how you will remember them, but I don't think you will. Your brain tends to discard all the sad times (or at least mine did).
