Re: unpopular opinions

I think it's fine to be offended by a piece of media that tries and does great with representation for one group but is shit at it with another. I think it's even fine to be more offended by those than the things that are shit at all representation and don't care. So I get why someone would be unable to watch Agent Carter but still love (for example) Supernatural. But I also think if you feel that way, you have an obligation to either give up watching the zero-representation shows you love, or stick to ways of watching them that don't contribute to their ratings. Otherwise, all the networks are going to see is that people prefer white man shows. They don't give a shit about your complex reasons behind it. And I find it funny that people who say things like "consume media responsibly" are the ones acting like their awareness is the only thing that matters.

Yup! In my case, the past few years, I've really tried to step up and support the creators I like with my moolah. If they make things I like, I should pay them, so they can make more!

I'm slowly working my way through my artist buddies, commissioning art from them, and I enjoy buying people's comics. I feel like a benevolent uncle or something, and sure, I might be paying more than I would for bigger press stuff, but I have yet to regret spending my money in such a way.

Sorry, but if I like something, I'm going to support it.
