I think WOC who get on slash fans' cases for shipping "white dick" are kind of hypocrites.

So some fans ship a white guy with a white guy because they think white dick is hot. There's nothing wrong with that.

If you ship the white dick with your WOC of choice, that's fine. But it doesn't make you better. You're not some poor, oppressed person protecting WOC from those meanie slash fans.

You're just as invested in the white dick as the slash fans. The only difference is that while the slash fans think two white dicks together is hot, you want the white dick for your female avatar because you think that's hot.

Same shit in the end.

Oh, the white fans who do it are hypocrites too. It's just that I've noticed that a lot of women of color seem much more willing to crap on white women than white men.

But at the same time, they'll shit all over white slash.

Like what you like and defend your favorite characters from abuse. But don't pretend you're BETTER or more socially aware because of where you like to stick the white cock.

Het fans in general need to lay off the "basic white dick" insults. Shipping two white dudes isn't revolutionary in fandom, but guess what? Neither is shipping het. Whatever the races of the characters, het is still more socially acceptable than any type of queer relationship.

That reminds me of the fit some tumblrinas had when a big jewellery company launched their first ever male/male wedding ring advertisment not too long ago. Models were a real-life gay couple who both happened to be white. And people were losing their minds over the terrible, horrible lack of diversity.

IA just as a general principle, the idea that shipping is linked to representation is frankly fucking stupid i ship lots of femslash, including a lot of pairings involving WOC. you know why? it's not because i'm committed to equality. it's because i think those pairings are really hot and cute and sweet and awesome to read about. it has nothing to do with politics any more than any pairing ever does. fucking hell.
