Yeah, of all the slash writers that I know, which is a bit, though limited to a few fandoms, not one of them has admitted to anal sex (and they're almost all exclusively straight women)

(Anonymous) 2015-02-11 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I write slash. I had anal sex last night.

There. Now you know at least one.

Straightish woman, by the way.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-11 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Woo-hoo!

(I'm sure some of them have, just no one that's willing to own up to it)

(Anonymous) 2015-02-11 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yet they write slash, and I'm guessing you're implying their fics include anal sex?

So they'd rather pretend they're writing about something they know nothing about and hide the fact that they've done research for it?

That's just bizarre.

Why do you want them to? Seriously, what's wrong with you that you think authors should have to tell you what sex acts they have and haven't done?

(Anonymous) 2015-02-12 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a published mm writer and I had anal sex twice for research purposes. I'm a woman.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-12 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
I write slash. I've both had it, and pegged my husband. Personally I'm not keen on it when it's my own butt, but he loves being pegged.

But I find a lot of things ridiculously sexy in fanfic or erotica that would turn me off irl so I'm not sure why it's a big deal. Feet are gross and covered in dead skin and bacteria, don't lick them, unless you're a hot dwarf king worshiping his hobbit's feet then go at it all night long.

I think I've read that fic. XD

(Anonymous) 2015-02-11 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Bi woman slash writer. I've done it.

"Admitted to it"? Like it's something to be ashamed of?

(Anonymous) 2015-02-11 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Some HUAC shit. Do you now have, or have you ever had, things up your butt for sexual reasons?

(Anonymous) 2015-02-11 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
HUAC?

Yeah. This is weird.

So having anal sex is embarrassing? Yet writing explicit porn with anal sex scenes in it isn't?

I know which one I'd rather admit having done when talking among my friends.

Actually, my friends know I've done both. But the fanfic slash is way more embarrassing.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-12 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
I know this might come as a surprise, but some people don't like discussing their sex lives? Yes, even if they write fic. It's one thing to write about a fictional character doing something and quite another to go around telling complete strangers about your sex life.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-12 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
But presumably your fandom friends already know that you write slash, whereas they don't necessarily know anything about your real sex life. It's more about the audience than about what's objectively more embarrassing.

Like, say you sleep with your emotionally toxic ex that you swore you'd never bang again, and get chlamydia from them. You might be fine with telling your friends about the sex but not the STD, whereas when you go into the clinic to get treated, obviously you're going to confess the STD, but that doesn't mean you want to tell the doctor about how you know your ex is bad for you but they can be so compelling when you're drunk and lonely.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-12 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
I don't tell people what sex acts I engage in with my partner not because I'm ashamed of it, but because that's between me and him and no one else.

I don't understand this idea that wanting to keep certain details of your life private is a bad thing.

I don't think it's something to be ashamed of. I did it once. Didn't find it my cup of tea. Haven't done it again. Here I am, admitting it to you.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-12 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
It's nothing to be ashamed of, but I have to say it's not something I'd tell my friends I'm into.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-12 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
I write butt sex and have butt sex.

Sometimes I peg my man. Woot!

I'm lacking a prostate, but I think I get the other deets right.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-12 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
you are living the dream anon. forgive my anon fail. XD

I am honestly really curious as to how many men are into/willing to try pegging, but I don't think there's really any way to ask this question and get an accurate answer...

And those of us slash writers who DON'T write anal sex, because hey we might actually realise that is not the be-all and end-all of m/m sex? Or do we magically not exist?

(Anonymous) 2015-02-13 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, fucking this. People who think that the prostate is a magical gland that makes any guy desire buttsex 24/7 needs to go jump off of a fucking bridge.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-12 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
When I used to read fanficrants, it seemed the opposite--people jumping up to claim their anal creds. (um). Honestly, it didn't seem to make a huge difference in the story-telling, from my admittedly unexperienced POV--there were just as many awful euphemisms, at least.
