Where's your defense for the find-replace name former fanfic aspect of the thing? And Icy's disgusting behavior in the Twilight fandom?

You have covered most of the issues people argue, but lets see where you stand on absolutely all of it?

Not OP (obviously), but who cares if it was fanfic? It is so removed from Twilight, there isn't really anything in common. Hell, if it wasn't a huge joke about it being Twilight fanfiction, I doubt anyone would even know.

It's not really about it being fanfic at this point as that a) she actually ripped off another fanfic (so it's like fanfiception or some shit), b) she pretended to be friends with all of these people in fandom and got them to buy the book when it first got released so that she could boost its position on Amazon and garner publicity for herself, then started treating them like shit and dropping all of them as soon as they got her where she wanted to be, and c) almost single-handedly destroyed her corner of Twilight fandom.

OP here!

I honestly don't really care too much about that? I am one of those people who prefer to separate out how they feel about the author and how they feel about the author's works, if you get what I mean. I certainly don't mind the find-replace name former fanfic aspect since the fanfic was an AU one to begin with, and one of my ACTUAL favourite novels that I genuinely love, Trace by Sam Starbuck, started similarly as a White Collar magical realism prison AU. That one is actually well written though.

I actually have a far bigger issue with works that just copy genres and setups entirely even if they are original than works that are adapted fanfic. Let's say someone does a zombie novel and it's super good, then someone else does a zombie novel in the exact same vein that's mostly paraphrased but isn't 'fanfic' because it's new characters! Copycat novels, basically, those I have a huge beef with and do not like. But the core of Twilight isn't really much like 50 Shades and vice versa, so that's no biggie to me.

And for behaviour, I'm the same as that as I am at Orson Scott Card. I don't have to like them to enjoy reading what they write, and I don't like them more because I enjoyed what they write. If I like a piece of work, it's because of what it's about and how it's written and not who did it.

I'm curious. Is there a way I can look up the author's Twilight fandom stuff? like, I need to know this horrible stuff. Feeds my soul.

Holy shit. thank you so much. I only just started reading and it's simultaneously hilarious and terrible.

Okay, wow. Reading the comments about her classism. Like her literally feeling like she's above others, enjoying it, and milking the fandom for a paycheck pre-publishing. Awful.

Not OP, but that makes it even more excusable in my mind as fantasy - fanfiction has certain tropes and concepts (a lot borrowed from romance novels, it's true) that are part of the "fantasy" element of it. It's basically idfic and it turns out that there's a massive audience for it who didn't know they were.
