Some ground rules:

The Spanish bit is still active, but the English side is pretty much dead because of a couple of power fans who insisted on trying to stamp out any use of Japanese (yeah) and also portray the fandom as some sort of grimdark show where Nabiki was the main character and a teenage girl-Hitler. Fun is not allowed. At all. No Ryoga shipping, no deviation from Akane being Ranma's equal (yeah, I know), and Ranma must be a broken bird or a military genius (I have no idea on that one either).

I have some memories of grimdark stuff re: Ranma and Akane beating on each other, or Ranma's dad being abusive, I don't even remember anymore.
But shit, it's a silly comedy. I mean Pantyhose Fucking Taro. What a shame that happened :(((((
Why no Ryoga shipping, though? What's wrong with Ryoga? He was an idiot, yeah, but so is everybody else...

Yeah, but that was the great thing about the old fandom. You had everything from Bitter End, to the mega crossover series, to sci-fi cyberpunk, to sex romp, to french farce and a dozen hundred other genres all milking the source material for every emotion and inspiration under the sun. Then about ten years back, maybe a bit more, a bunch of guys came into the fandom with their alternative reading of the series which refused to acknowledge that playing for laughs was a thing. Their battlecry was "we have aspergers and can only see the truth", and they were online 24/7 in every remaining fanspace (yeah, the fandom had become a bit slow, it happens when no new material comes out) and just keyboard warred everyone else out of the fandom. The edit warred all Ranma wiki (wikipedia, Ranma-wiki, Tvtropes, and a few other wikis) entries into the dead serious reading and the whole place stank. What few active players were left just gave up and walked away because it was so unpleasant.

I am SO GLAD I left the fandom before this shit happened O_O wtf wtf
yeahhhh I'm gonna stay in my happy place where R1/2 is a funny, silly gag/comedy manga with martial arts.
