14. Thank you. Really, I didn't think the movie was as awful as everyone is making is. Usually the musicals are better than the movies I wish I saw the musical so they should just stop complianing. We get it. I so wanna read the book now though.

25. It was his best though :D He was so damn funny. Still great.

43. How would a music video of that series even work o_O

11. How so? I don't mean it ina snarky way, I'm genuinely curious.

20. Everytime I see Cleris, I think of Claris from Breath of Fire II.

27. There's a new Care Bears series? Huh.

38. WTF, people honestly use Troy as a source of historical accuracy or good film making at all?

Also 25.

[identity profile] mireia-antonina.livejournal.com 2008-01-08 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Nothing to feel guilty about. He really was good in that role.

[identity profile] viserys.livejournal.com 2008-01-08 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
11) I didn't think Colette was a very strong character at all, personally. She was strong for about half an hour of the movie, sure. But the instant Alfredo kissed her and they started dating, she became yet another generic wilting flower weak Disney female.

If that's a role-model, that really says something doesn't it? You might be a strong, independent girl, but if you ever start dating a guy, even a clumsy nerd, you'll become some submissive thing.

14) At the risk of sounding like a bitch (Oh noes!), no I won't stop bashing the movie. WHAT? PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS? GREAT SCOTT. Not everyone that hates the movie hates it because it wasn't like the musical(s). Just saying.

17) Oh man, seconded so hard. :/ It's sort of sad that people only know of this show by "DESU DESU DESU".

20) Good lord, this secret reminds me of being in middle school. "*snort* You said 'cleris'. That sounds like 'clitoris'. OMG LOL."

25) I guess I need to start feeling guilty too, then. It really was. I mean, I'm a huge fan of the man, I pretty much love almost everything he's been in. But that show will always be his best, I think.

34) I LOL'd so hard, you have no idea.

42) You know, now I'm curious what the communities are. (I thought 4chan was the most hated fandom-related website on the net, but that's not really a "community".)

50) ... wut

[identity profile] jallycyn.livejournal.com 2008-01-08 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
11. ...I don't really see what you're talking about, sorry. Her role did definitely get downplayed but I don't see where "generic wilting flower weak Disney female" is coming from. She was strong enough to go back to the kitchen even after she figured out what was going on with Remy and Linguini AND got over her own dislike of rats in order to help him out, probably at the risk of her own reputation as a chef, because she believed it was right, something that all the other chefs that left couldn't manage to do.

Do you have any examples of what makes you think made Colette weak?

10 - Yes, Tenma is ridiculously, absolutely moe. Rivaled only by Suk.

I have a PhD in Classics, and "The Mummy" is one of my all-time favorite movies. Honestly, hating "The Mummy" for being historically inaccurate is, to me, like hating the Indiana Jones movies for portraying archaeology unrealistically. ;)

That said, it can be super annoying when people do take these movies as fact, or pretend to know everything about Ancient Greece just because they sat through "Alexander" and "300" a couple of times. Still, I think the person who sits and picks out every inaccuracy in a goofy adventure/romance/etc. film is just as annoying as the person who ignorantly thinks of the "history" presented in said film as being the truth behind a given event.

So while I do agree, I don't think all movies really ought to be historically accurate, despite the annoyance it might cause. It's called "historical fiction" for a reason, you know? I don't have a problem with someone using a historic setting and then injecting some awesome (if untrue) stuff into it. (Though I have on occassion thrown bitchfests about how much I hate hate hate "300," so I guess I'm not completely without blame here either - though its inaccuracies were just a few of my many issues with that movie.)

20. I've always maintained that "Clex" (Smallville) sounds like a venereal disease, and "Snarry" sounds like slang for the female genitalia.

8. I don't tend to notice the raspy. I tend to notice his lisp. I can't take him seriously at all because of it. :D

[identity profile] germania731.livejournal.com 2008-01-08 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
hahahah. i ignore the lisp sometimes, but sometimes theres just nothing for it. it pop up when h's at his angriest too...i keep waiting for Azula to tease him about it.

[identity profile] zhoutaisdayoff.livejournal.com 2008-01-08 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
50. Sorry, pal. But there's villains (and heroes) in other games that are more frightening than Sephiroth.

[identity profile] kelliguez.livejournal.com 2008-01-08 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, to each his/her own.

When I was 3, the Clown Cup that Bowser had in SMW scared that everliving FUCK out of me. I don't have a fear of clowns now, but it still sorta freaks me out >.>;;

The Brave Little Toaster! <3 I used to watch that like every day as a kid. Must've drove my parents bonkers. Man, wish I had that movie somewhere...

40

[identity profile] blueutopiah.livejournal.com 2008-01-08 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I stopped watching after 23 years in the fandom (I just couldn't take how they handled the aftermath of the Salem Stalker), but that secret made me feel warm and fuzzy again. HAIL to the storylines of the late 80's and 1990s. I miss the old writers.

And I had forgotten that Stefano kept Marlena in a cage. Heh.

ME TOO. The Salem Stalker thing killed any love I had for the show. It wasn't even funny!stupid anymore it was just... written by typing monkeys or throwing darts or something.

19. This is so me. She's the only reason I was reading/watching it anyway, because I found every other character from this show just damn annoying.

[identity profile] neko-chan09.livejournal.com 2008-01-08 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
17. Efff, yeah. Rozen Maiden ftw. 8D ♥
25. I agree. XD

Realism? What what? What wasn't realistic about her?! It's tough being in a kitchen, and it's tough being a woman with a career who actually gets anywhere without being tough and snappish and a hardass. She would not have served the necessary role in the plot, without being the way she was.

I thought she was freakin' awesome. What should she have been, that's more realistic?!

24. Moyashimon FTW! Even though I can't say I agree with you, I'm a little obsessed with Sawaki/Kei. :D

25. I totally agree. XD

36. holy shit, The Brave Little Toaster! I love you.

38. WORD. I'm a history major, and yeah, I got interested in it through watching the old sword-and-sandal epics with my parents when I was a kid, and I still enjoy movies like Marie Antoinette, 300, etc. on the basis that they're damn entertaining and aesthetically pleasing, but THAT'S NOT ALL IT FUCKING IS. I've had people try to fucking CORRECT ME on historical facts because "that wasn't how it was in the movie!". It makes me facepalm endlessly. ugh. (it also makes me probably the most annoying person EVER to go see a historical film with. XD)

8. Sure you may not understand why people like him, but at the same time his dad did virtually abuse him the worse that he could for children's TV. I don't think Zuko was out of line for saying 'fuck this' and leaving.

12. NIKOLAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII. I love him so. Though his voice annoys me a little. D: I like to keep him at low health cause then he sounds sexy. And I always use him, even if it means killing my advantage, lol ;_; I love his and Lyon's synergy attack <3

39. I know exactly how you feel. :C
