The one hilarious part was when David Gaider (who wrote Cassandra, Dorian, and others) asked what was the big deal with the bi mods on Twitter and people had the nerve to tell him that it was insulting to those who made the game. He wasn't insulted - who wouldn't see how ridiculous it is to tell him that he should be?

... bwuhfuck? They're telling... the writer of the very characters in question... who is in fact himself gay... that he's wrong for not being offended?

Oh. Right. I forgot. Tumblr doesn't care if you're queer or not, if you're not going along with the party line of the moment, which changes enough to give someone whiplash (... I'm pretty sure someone on Tumblr would call me ableist for that term), then obviously you're an ~internalized homophobe or whatever bullshit it is they keep spouting.

I mean, okay, I can understand why people are upset about bi!Dorian mods, because him being gay is a huge part of his personal story. TBH, I agree with them and feel that making a gay character whose orientation is that central to his character is skeevy, buuut... I don't play those mods. But, they're gonna exist. FFS, people have been modding queer options into games for well over a decade (I'm just thinking of BioWare games here, which have been the ones I've played with romance; I don't know about other genres, like JRPGs). Do people really think that now that there are queer-only options, that people aren't going to mod those, too? Come on.

Whether they should, or shouldn't, is pretty irrelevant. They're going to, and if people on Tumblr cause enough of a ruckus to get one taken down, someone else will write another. I just... I don't get the extreme outrage, I guess. It's one thing, IMO, to discuss why you don't like them; it's quite another to fucking harass people, period. Let's be real here: It's not like the mods are harming real-life queer people, but harassment? That harms REAL people... some of whom might even be queer too. But I doubt Tumblr cares about that.
