2. I LOVE that series. I can't find it anymore but I loved reading it so much. ;o;

3. Agreed. ♥

6. Mmm.

10. Kingdom Hearts as a center plot is kind of overused in multifandom rpgs, but if it's done well - it's done well. Though I've never seen one yet, I think.

(Anonymous) 2007-02-07 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
(Creator of 2 here)

Really? :o Where I live, you can find it readily. Just where in the store is the iffy part. Some stores stock it in the "young adult" section, others put it with the "popular series" section.

Also, there's going to be a manga spinoff dealing with Graystripe during the New Prophecy...except...well, it looks horrible. D: The art is completely laughable and the person who drew it looks like they had no idea on what the anatomy of a cat should be.

10. Wank aside, for that exact reason is why I like [livejournal.com profile] neisenma. (WHICH TOTALLY NEEDS MORE PEOPLE, BTW) It does a good job of trying not to favor one fandom over the others.

I avoid most KH-based crossover RPs because a lot of them seem to be like one of those fanfics where people think it's cool to remove all the Disney elements and toss in some anime characters.

[identity profile] fairyfey.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
2. Hee. My brother reads that. :D He's incredibly obsessed.

3. True for so many fandoms. :\

5. It's still fun though!

1. I wish making friends offline was as easy as it is online, too.

2. I wish books like these had been out when I was younger. Now I feel too old to actually buy them.

6. I completely understand. During the worst parts of my life, it was the stories, characters, and worlds I had grown to love that kept me from killing myself. The conclusion of a story that I didn't want to miss, the thrill of reading a book that gave me something else to think about and another world to temporarily live in. All of the little things that helped to make all of the large, horrible things more easily dealt with. If I hadn't had fantasyland as a refuge, I wouldn't be here.

[identity profile] demyx.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
10. HAHAHAHA OH LORD, I WAS IN THAT GAME.

Yeah, no real opinion on the actual secret, but... LOL. That game gave me some good times. DX The thing I don't like about multifandom RPGs period is that they all degenerate into aimless wandering and character hookups. DX Bah. I long for PLOT and character interaction that GETS SOMEWHERE.

7. :[ Sorry, I'm one of those people. But I know you just can't force people to like characters XD; Admittedly, a lot of the female leads get kidnapped no matter how tough they are and the other female party members just sit around and you kind of forget they're there.

actually, I've gotten yelled at for the opposite: not liking the males enough. Specifically, FF7. I didn't list a favorite FF7 male in this one character meme and people were like "Y U NO LEIK CLOUD/VINCENT/CID?" BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T INTERESTING? Well, Cid was funny, but then I forgot he existed. >_>; OK, going off topic. DX

1. I get annoyed at how it's so hard to find people interested in fandom in your own area. There are tons of anime fans but it's like they're all dispersed across the world and you'll never find more than 10 living in your general area. Even if you like something supposedly "mainstream" like Heroes, you won't find anyone who likes it enough to TALK and SPECULATE and EXPLORE the topic. fjuihriuwehiwqhdqw. *headdesk*

[identity profile] the-beanmaster.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
...Heroes is considered "mainstream"? :O I know a lot of people who watch it every now and then, but I know... maybe... three? Yeah, three people who watch it enough to know what the hell is going on. XD;;

...That just keeps the LAMERS out. No, seriously, I love Heroes. Like. For serious.

5. All of my cosplays are from at least semi-obscure fandoms. Or are semi-obscure characters within the fandoms. I don't like cosplaying what 15346432 other people have already done, and there are so mant series out there that have such beautiful costumes that noone has made yet. Go ahead, you might make someone else a fan when they ask you 'Hey, so what character are you?'

[identity profile] some-kat.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
1. You know..It's something I've thought about from time to time, and all I can come up with is that you have to see your offline friends every. day. Or close to it. I dunno, life's just weird like that sometimes.

That, and "offline" is very limited in how many people are around. D: Online, you can go and search as long as you want for people in a similar fandom, or sit in communities meeting others.

10. Mm.. I don't mean to sound elitist in any way, but I'm very..particular about what multi-fandom games I join. I don't join single-fandom games because most of the players there are "OMG THEY SAID THIS, OOC GTFO". Most of the time from my experience, multi-fandom games (AU or world collided) have pretty nice players. Whether they're any good or not is another story that I won't get into.

But, it seems like after [livejournal.com profile] _catchphrase_, the multi-fandom games sprung up out of nowhere. What I've noticed are the ones that you suddenly see EVERYWHERE that SO MANY PEOPLE are in are the ones that were hap-hazardly thrown together in a few weeks. Honestly, though? The heavily plot-driven multi-fandom games are few and far between. Good luck finding them. D:

(Anonymous) 2007-02-07 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
10. [livejournal.com profile] _catchphrase_ actually sprung out from [livejournal.com profile] afterlife_rp.

And I know a few plot-driven multifandoms.

I don't really want to say here for the sake of keeping the peace. Though, I have no idea if she even has a clue this place exists.

Let's just say she posted something within the past week that was so insanely verbose it made my brain leak. And I unfriended the journal. The only reason I remain a member is because I might eventually want to post something there again in the future.

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 02:23 am (UTC)(link)

3. I'm all for a nice happy menage between those three, but god I hate yaoi fangirls. I mean, I love yaoi ... but the fangirls are so bad. It's the reason Y!Gallery sucks. Why do people have the repeatedly ignore canon established relations with female characters be they romantic or not and hate said female just so they can pair two guys up for the hot sex. It makes no sense. Argh! This is a topic that just gets under my skin like nothing else. Female characters are awesome love.

5. I say cosplay who you want to cosplay. As long as time and effort is put into something you will get positive attention. People might have to ask what series you're from and or who you're cosplaying but I'd rather see people do something original and unique than just cosplay what's the next popular thing ... ::cough.:: Says the person who's spending Katsucon wearing nothing but Bleach because I'm lazy this time around. Cop-out Con!

9. I used to write on graph paper years ago. It was always graph paper and a gel pen and often written in my World Religion or World Civ class. Yes, I wrote yaoi fanfic instead of notes. I miss college.

[identity profile] liltigre.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
1. Never figured that one out. Though some of my IRL friends (and relationships) began as online friendships. Interesting to know someone for two years and then find out they live 30 miles from you.

2. .... OK, it has kittyfighting. Auto-win.

5. Do it anyway. :D Some of my fandoms are disgustingly obscure; can't spread the word around if you don't promote it!

6. Writing fanfic literally saved my life. I would have committed suicide long ago if I hadn't had that as an outlet when I needed it. I'm not that bad anymore, but it's garnered fandom a special place in my heart. Or something equally mushy.

8. ........... can we get an example of one of these fics?

10. ...mmm. I can see how multifandom games can be frustrating and hard to get into, but GOOD ones do still exist. :D At least, I like to think so~

(Anonymous) 2007-02-07 03:59 am (UTC)(link)

8. The one that prompted this secret should be one of the more recent submissions, or at least within the past week or so. Let's just say the notes to the fic were longer than the fic itself.

Just because you didn't enjoy it doesn't mean that others do. Expressing your opinion is fine, but generalizations like that hurt. Just letting you know.

1. Typically that’s because it’s more work to get friends offline, however, if you get the word out by a sticker on a notebook, or a collage on a notebook or a card inside a locker. You really could find a fandom friend around you. Be a little more open about your fandoms? Also, check around with some of your online friends, maybe they live kinda close, or can go to a convention near you.

2. You make me want to take a look at that book.I’m a huge Diane Duane, Kevin Crossley-Holland, Cornelia Funke, etc., middle school author fan. ^^

5. Go for it, just do things very in character. Something unique is awesome. Maybe make yourself a character ID card too. >>; *coming from a girl who this coming year is her first MOSTLY common fandom characters year*

6. *hugs* I’m glad you found something. It’s so hard for so many to find something that sustains them….I have to say I’m somewhat in the same boat as you are. Fandom’s one of the few things that has saved me too. >>; The second being a poem from someone I will just call Turtle. (You also make me wonder if I knew/know you.)

9. Not too odd. *shrug* I do outlines on graph paper for RP. Used to do it for fics. I think it’s the fact that the lines provide a border without margins.

10.(and the replies that followed on it) Simply my opinion, given that I’m in that rp….and I don’t think there’s much of what you’re talking about anymore….there’s plot, there’s a lot more niceties and less…pr0n wank in the chat. >>; I really think the only thing that remains from the past is the simplicity of turning the chat into a musical. ^^ *shrugs* But you're all still entitled to your opinion.

10.) In some multi-fandom RPs, the application process in itself is pure fucking insanity. I think it was [livejournal.com profile] ad_interim but I remember applying for two characters - Magoichi Saika and Tadakatsu Honda - both from Samurai Warriors. I remember getting so pissed I withdrew my applications because everyone and their pets rocks were submitting cheesy FF/KH/Bleach/Other Fad Anime or Video Game were getting approved right off the bat and I had to sit there and wait for a mod that KNEW about Samurai Warriors to come on and approve.

Obscure (or not as popular) fandoms are usually put on the back burner in the application process. Sometimes the apllicants get so pissed at the waiting that they withdraw, leaving applications for just FF/KH/etc. So they usually become KH-based RPs that way.

[identity profile] some-kat.livejournal.com 2007-02-07 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
You know, I hadn't really thought of that myself.

For [livejournal.com profile] trans_lantic, usually what I'll do if we get an app none of the mods recognize, I'll post in my journal and find people who know the series within two days to look it over and tell me what they think.

But I can definitely see how that'd be a turn off for a game.

No, I'd just rather not have all her minions and mindless fangirls jump to her defense. I got into trouble over there a while back because of something similar and I'd just rather it not happen again.

I had artwork ripped and posted there and there were still stupid people who defended the girl who stole the artwork. Go figure.
