Re: How to speed up the onset of menstruation? (inherently TMI topic, post is probably fine)

(Anonymous) 2015-02-28 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
No one thinks you're the next Virgin Mary, just sadly uninformed about how your own reproductive system and birth control works.

Re: How to speed up the onset of menstruation? (inherently TMI topic, post is probably fine)

(Anonymous) 2015-02-28 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
What? I meant to indicate there's no way I could be pregnant, since that's what people tend to ask when someone mentions "period didn't come when expected".

Re: How to speed up the onset of menstruation? (inherently TMI topic, post is probably fine)

(Anonymous) 2015-02-28 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Everyone knew what you meant. But you still sound very ignorant of how your own system and birth control actually work, given the question you're asking. Special exercises to make your period come? Really?

Re: How to speed up the onset of menstruation? (inherently TMI topic, post is probably fine)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I don't know these things. That's why I'm asking.

Re: How to speed up the onset of menstruation? (inherently TMI topic, post is probably fine)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, sorry for being antagonistic. It's not not knowing things that set me off, it's not knowing things and then making a joke about all the things you don't know (ie: Virgin Mary!).

Not knowing how your system and birth control works have real, serious consequences and deserves to be treated as such.

DA

god why do people even make jokes anymore? UGH

You're not so knowledgeable yourself dude. You're blowing up over nothing.

Re: How to speed up the onset of menstruation? (inherently TMI topic, post is probably fine)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
NAYRT: Why do you assume they're a dude? That this thread even exists should prove that men aren't the only ones who can be clueless about periods, no matter how sure they think they are.

Re: How to speed up the onset of menstruation? (inherently TMI topic, post is probably fine)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
calling someone dude doesnt mean you think they're a dude...

Re: How to speed up the onset of menstruation? (inherently TMI topic, post is probably fine)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
That's dumb.

Different anon.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Are you a ESL speaker? It's not a rhetoric question. I am and it took me a while to get this. "Dude" is something of a filler word in english and it's pretty common to call people "dude" regarless of their gender. Or not call them dude but just randomly peppering your sentences with it.

idk english is weird.

Re: Different anon.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
No, I've been speaking English my whole life. It's only really been in the last decade or so that "dude" has become a nongendered word. And it's dumb.

Re: Different anon.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
how dare the use of language ever change or evolve

Re: Different anon.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
dude, that's just how language works. words take up different meanings all the all.

you're even got an example in your post.

Re: Different anon.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
So you're aware of that usage of the word, but pretend not to understand people when they use it that way just because you don't like it? That's pretty dumb.

I don't know that you'll read this since it's so late, but I've lived in California my whole life, I was already an adult a decade ago, I'm a cis-woman, and everyone in my peer group (but not bosses or professors or parents/elderly relatives) got and still gets called dude, at least since the 80s, unless they say it bugs them.

I think anon was making a joke about something other than the stuff she didn't know.

Your reaction is pretty weird and OTT

Re: How to speed up the onset of menstruation? (inherently TMI topic, post is probably fine)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah? There are ways to induce menstruation. OP was probably just throwing ideas around, but it's a legit question.

Re: How to speed up the onset of menstruation? (inherently TMI topic, post is probably fine)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Do you have to be such a judgmental arse about it?

Re: How to speed up the onset of menstruation? (inherently TMI topic, post is probably fine)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
sa
I swear, when anyone comes in here with questions about birth control/periods, some anon has to come in with a condescending and judgmental reply.

Re: How to speed up the onset of menstruation? (inherently TMI topic, post is probably fine)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
No, it's not everyone who has a question about these things, it's people who have questions that demonstrate how frighteningly ignorant they are about how birth control works (even though they have access to doctors, pharmacists and the whole goddamn internet) and are still having sex.

Re: How to speed up the onset of menstruation? (inherently TMI topic, post is probably fine)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
OP

I thought the Virgin Mary comment would be an understandable way of saying I don't have sex. And never have. Which is why I can't be pregnant. Did...did you really think I was saying "there's no way I could be pregnant, because I'm on birth control, which I think prevents me from conceiving even with all the sex I'm having"?

and are still having sex.

OP SAID SHE WAS A VIRGIN.

Shit.

(And for real, I also hate it when people get angry about other people being ignorant. Willful ignorance, yeah, that's shitty, but just not knowing? How dare they *gasp* ask questions and try to learn?? It's like you want people to stay ignorant so you can have someone to hate. So divisive and self-righteous.)

Re: How to speed up the onset of menstruation? (inherently TMI topic, post is probably fine)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
So instead of giving them information, you're going to be a judgmental and condescending ass about it? Jesus. Get off your high horse.
And a lot of people use birth control, even if they don't know how it exactly works. But they're still using it. (And this anon also said she wasn't even having sex.)
